Should I tell him???

OK - I'm having second thoughts and need your help...

Really long story made short..

Hubby and I go to WDW every 2 years:sohappy: . Last year, after 9/11, I was scared to fly and insisted we skip this coming year :( . (Hubby is really really dissapointed but is good enough to humor me.)

Since then, I have calmed down and am OK with flying but already sold hubby on "boring" driving vacation to Williamsburg VA.

Hubby puts up w/ a lot of stuff with my family, including my aunt who lives with us so wanted to do something nice for him. Booked the land/sea trip instead of the Williamsburg trip.:sohappy:

Decided to not tell hubby until the day we leave, kind of as a "Thanks for being wonderful" surprise. (He already scheduled vacation time w/ work so this is not a problem. I can pack his clothes, papers, etc. for him, so that also should not be a problem.) My plan is to have a limo pick us up in the morning (instead of the rental car he thinks we are taking to VA) and take us to the airport and spring it on him then.

So, my question is... Should I continue with my plan to not tell him until the day we leave or should I tell him in advance so that he can be excited about it before hand? I've been planning this, and keeping it a secret for 7 months now, and it's now only a few weeks away.

What would you do?

Surprise Trip

I love to hear Stories like that. I surprised my husband for his 50th birthday also. I took him on the 3 day trip to Disney and the 4 day cruise on the Disney Wonder. I held it in for a long time and we went with friends and not only did I have to keep it in but so did my whole family and my friends!!! I called up his job and asked his boss to put in for a weeks vacation time. I bought on ebay the Stuffed Disney cruise ship with the characters. We went out to dinner the night we gave it to him with the friends we were going with. I wrapped up the stuffed Disney cruise ship and put the package we got from the cruise line with the tickets, etc, inside. When he opened it, he had no idea what the ship meant (talk about oblivious) and then the ticket package fell and I told him to look inside. He was shaking!!! When he opened it he found MY airline and cruise tickets first. He said "Trudy, your going on a cruise? We laughed and laughed and he finally got it!!! He was so excited!!! First he said he couldn't go because he didn't ask for the time off. When I told him I called his boss and did it, he was dumbfounded. He said, nothing will ever top that. It was the best gift I ever got him!!!! There is nothing like a surprise like that and we left one week later!!!!!

Don't tell him. One problem, are you strong enough to pick him up off the floor when he finds out. I would be freaking out for 7 months. You're awesome. I do this kind of stuff to my wife all the time, but not nearly as well or for that long. I think it will be great! Va vs. WDW, no question who gets more excited about Va. than WDW.

OK everyone - we are back!

Sorry it has taken me so long to provide an update. I actually tried to just after returning, but for some reason my post didn't post... just my luck...

Anyway - I DID IT!!! I managed to pull off the biggest surprise of my life! Hubby didn't have a clue that we weren't going to VA. I finally broke down and told him about 15 minutes before we were supposed to get picked up to go to the airport...

At first he didn't get it...
Then he thought it was a joke...
Then he thought I had lost my mind...
Then he worried about where the money came from!!!
Then he just went into a state of shock...

He pretty much stayed in shock for the whole first 24 hours of the trip.. The next morning he woke up, looked around the hotel and started smiling... I asked him what he was doing and he just sat there with a dumb smile on his face and said "I can't believe it! We're really here, aren't we? We're actually in Disney? I thought for sure I would wake up, it would be 5 AM and we would be driving to VA! I can't believe this!"

All in all we had an incredible time. He said it was the best vacation of his life and of course I am the coolest wife ever!!!

I'll be posting a complete (long and detailed) trip report, with photos shortly....

Thanks for all your support and encouragement while I was in the planning phase... It was stressful but it definitely paid off!

I just found your thread again! Where is the trip report?? Did I miss it??? I hope not!!!

Well done girl!! :sohappy:
