Should Disney advertise more to teens ans young adults?

Have you read any of them, of given them ANY bit of a chance? ;)
I gave it a try but to be honest just couldn't finish it (Given this was years ago but still). I'm not here to pick on anyone or anything but it just doesn't appeal to me, sorry if I offended anyone. It's just not my thing. On the other hand anything written by Anthony Bourdain is pure gold ;).

Not my thing either..have absolutely no interest what so ever in the books or the movies....

Who cares if you do not like or want to like Harry Potter?

Everyone has different opinions on things and it seems like all you did was give yours...no reason to apologize for doing what everyone does here on a daily basis...giving their opinion...

No problem...I would urge you to try again, though. They really are good.

So, back on topic.

Disney should not advertise to teens. Teens have little money and therefore offer little profit.

Disney should however, market to teen's parents. A family vacation for older families is a demographic current marketing has all but forgotten in the past few years.

Young adults (college age) unfortunately, also offer little profit, nor, in general, do their goals for a successful vacation (i.e. partying) mesh with the majority of services Disney provides.

I agree here, jake. Although I think there's a hole in advertising for the 25-30 crowd, which is what I'd start attacking. They're young, but with jobs(well in a NORMAL economy), and most are looking for a vacation with a significant other.

True, but you can advertise to the consumer, with hopes to influence the customer who buys for the consumer. Common practice for "Children's" products.

Because he stated, as if it were a 100% fact, that Universal was complete crap because they are building a Harry Potter land at their park.

It would be the same as if I knew nothing about the Little Mermaid, but said that Disney was crap for building a stupid Little Mermaid attraction.

I don't care if he wants to like Harry Potter or not. It's the whole 'stating opinions as facts when your opinions are based on having no information about said subject' that gets me irked.

Heading for the great escape.
Nahhhh Disney is crap because its full of chanting teenagers and ECV powered high speed grannies on route to attractions built for 3 year old "princesses" and their parents cash.

I agree.

There is a ton of disposable income in the bracket.

It would also ensure that demographic would return in a few years with their children.

Why go through such a convoluted message pinned on hope? Just market it to the parents.

Absolutely and I think I am a quite good example of why Disney should do that. Before getting the opportunity to work as an ICP there I never had any interest on the Disney Parks (don't ban me please) even though I loved everything about their animations.

Now that I have been there I am totally addicted and want to go back, because working there made me realize that a park can offer much more than thrill rides. :sohappy:

Not "hope", per say the way you put it, but more like "influence".

If little Timmy loves History and is fascinated with Time Travel, you market SSE to him. Little Timmy begs to go to EPCOT. Parents want to take a trip. Want Timmy to be happy, too....You see it, right? :lookaroun:lol:

Heck yes Disney needs to appeal and advertise more to teens.

Because of Disney's marketing, folks where I live think Disney is just a place where kids go to hug Mickey and ride Dumbo and the Tea Cups and that's it. They have no idea is has advanced thrill rides and things for teens like ToT. And I've gotten a lot of crap because of it. :brick:

What they simply need to do is show more of teens riding rides like ToT, RnRC, SM, etc to show that it appeals to teens too, not just parents with little kids.

Holy crap, Evan, you are talking about micro-marketing.

It's implausible to impossible to directly market to every demographic of teenager with the hope they influence their parents.

What's easier? Marketing to 50 individual groups of teenagers or 1 group that has everything in common: a group of parents of teenagers?

God bless the "Ignore" button.
How about a commercial marketed towards adults that inspires them to take their college-aged/20-something kid to WDW to reconnect? Disney emphasizes that everyone has got a youthful side to them, but they don't really point out how parents taking their older kids to WDW could re-spark that youthful flame that seems to die out in the young-adult aged crowd.
Just so long as the commercial isn't as cheesy as HISTA pre-show...

Ugh, Jake!:brick::ROFLOL: You take me too seriously. Not THAT specific...:animwink::lol:

I think you can still Market to ALL teens, though, who in turn go for the parents. And still, Market to the parents, too. They can certainly do both.
