I know Disney has some kind of WDW themed needle work...my mom likes that stuff!

I'm not sure which shop you would find it at though.

Off hand, I can't think of a single shop right at Disney that sells Disney-themed needlework, but that doesn't mean there isn't one! I think your best bet would be to go to a craft store on your home turf, and ask them if they can order one. If you're lucky, they might even have some in stock, especially since it's getting to be the Christmas shopping season. Seems to me I've seen lots of Disney-themed kits for making needlepoint ornaments and stockings.

There are five different Disney-themed cross-stitch kits that can be purchased on property (I've purchased them all over the years). They are mostly found in the Art of Disney stores. I've purchased a few in the art store at MGM and the rest in Suspended Animation in Pleasure Island. They aren't found in every shop--mostly the higher end art stores on property.

Four of the five kits are Normah Rockwell-style:
Thanksgiving Dinner: Several Disney charaters sitting around the table for Thanksgiving dinner (Mickey is going to carve the turkey)
Barbershop Quartet: Brer Bear, Goofy, Mickey, and Donald (I'm doing this one now.)
Self-Portrait: Mickey looking in a mirror to paint a self-portrait, but Walt's face is on the canvas (I've finished this one and it's beautiful.)
Puppy Love: Mickey and Minnie sitting side by side looking at the sunset with Pluto lying beside them.

The fifth is of Cinderella's Castle at night with fireworks and Tink.

Are they very complicated? Would they have any that would be suitable for a beginner? my daughter took up cross-stitching last year, but doesn't have much experience at it yet. She would love a Disney cross-stitch.

The five I mentioned above are not likely to be done by beginners. They're pretty big and fairly complicated (i.e., lots of color changes, etc.). There is a book of Disney cross-stitch patterns (I think it's produced by Leisure Arts but I'm not sure) that has lots of patterns that are a lot easier. Our local craft stores carry this book.

Do you know if there's a place where these can be bought on-line?

If you go here:

http://www.mouseshoppe.com/product.cfm?ProductID=3737

you can order a cross stitch kit for Cinderella Castle at night with Tinkerbell flying over it.

Also, I have the Disney cross stitch book that was already mentioned and indeed it is very easy. I'm only 19 and have been cross stitching for a year and I have made a bunch of mickey mouse designs from that book. They range from magnet size projects to large pictures that you could frame.

Last, check out Ebay. They have a lot of things related to Disney Cross stitch. The only problem is not buying ALL of it!!

Any merchandise found in WDW can be ordered thru the WDW Merchandise order area. I dont have the phone number handy, but they have been awesome in the past. Call the regular 1 407 WDISNEY number and ask them to connect you and give you the number! They will look up any type of item, get it from wherever on the property it is and ship it up to you. Shipping and Handling do apply, but if you are out of state, tax doesnt!! the phone number is also printed on any Disney Receipt!! Hope this helps! Belle

Does anyone know how much the self-portrait and castle/fireworks cross-stitch kits cost??? I looked on that mouseshoppe dot com and it was $50. Is that how much it is in the parks?

I don't think it was $50. I was thinking it was $40, but it's been a couple of years since I bought them. The merchandise number Belle was referring to is 407-363-6200. If you give them a call they can tell you how much it is and what shipping would be.

Thank you all! I haven't done much cross stitch lately, but have done many projects in the past. I'll look for the castle cross stitch kit while I'm there this weekend. Perhaps if I spend less time on this computer, I'll have time to finish it by Christmas. ;)
