I need to vent.
Yet another Philadelphia police officer was killed last night. He was 25 years old and his wife is pregnant with their first child. This was the 7th Philadelphia officer killed in the line of duty within a little over 2 years.
I'm sorry for being a downer, but I'm angry and I needed a place to put it.

Sorry to hear that...:(

Unfortunately, this isn't isolated to your neck of the woods. Our police put their life on the line every day but rarely receive the same respect as our military.

I missed Betty. I hope you have a wonderful trip, Betty.

Hello everyone. Happy Valentine's Day.

Bob and I both are sick with some kind of cold. Just not feeling good here.
I just woke up and feeling Blah.
Hope everyone has a romantic day.

It's that total lack of respect that is truly frightening.
My daughter was teaching at an elementary school at the time following one of the previous officer's murder. Two "moms" came in after class to pick up their kids and proceeded to loudly discuss the murder and their approval of it. They both agreed that Philly cops get what they deserve because they can't "mind their own business". This went on for some time before my daughter was able to steer them out the door. She was sickened, not only by what they said, but also because they said it in front of a room full of young children.
So sad. Do they not know they will reap what they sow?

No, they're desensitized to it all. Compassion isn't learned and passed on. Narcissism is rampant. And respect for right/wrong is the exception not the rule. :brick::brick:
I'm so sorry to hear this, Dot. Life stinks sometimes. :( ((HUGS))

I was just talking to my mom about this. My aunt and uncle are both retired Philadelphia Officers, and their son, my cousin John, is a Sergeant. Officer Pawlowski grew up on their street - his dad still lives there. They were all at Officer Pawlowski's wedding in October. This is so tragic...newlywed, about to be a father. Every time we lose one of these guys I get so angry...what kind of person shoots a cop? Why would anyone want to protect this city? Please pray for this officer's family and for police everywhere.

My aunt told my mom a lot of police keep mementos tucked into their hats. Officer Pawlowski had the card from his mother's funeral tucked in his. She died when he was 13.
