- Elise (Big Al's Gal) -

And other friends in supporting roles!

Back in November, an absolutely amazing forum member here by the name of Jenn, aka One Lil Spark, had a thought of having a lil ESPN The Weekend meet for her birthday. This idea quickly evolved into something amazing. I will now describe the amazingness that took place during a period of three days from my point of view. It is hard to remember exact details, times, and such as it all seems like a blur now, but I will do my best to give you this tale of the most excellent time at Walt Disney World to ever be had to the best of my abilities.

February 27th, 2009
I woke up to the sound of my alarm just after 9am, hardly having gotten any sleep during the night because of my anticipation of the weekend. Little did I know that today would be the start of something amazing.

After my usual morning routine, I went and checked my phone for missed calls and text messages during my slumber. A text message from Jenn about 20 min. earlier said Elise had made it through the first round of auditions for the American Idol Experience. I was ecstatic! I knew she would do it. My plan was to get over there for her show, which I figured was going to be around 12-1pm. I got online and did some other things around the house until around 9:45 when I received another text from Jenn. Elise was performing in the first show at 11am! I had an hour and 15 min. to get showered/dressed, pack the car, and get to DHS. I hurried and had everything done in less than a half hour. I encounter slow drivers and nearly every red light on my way to I-4 West, but once I got in I shot down it, parked, and got inside the park just before 10:45.

I surprisingly walked right into the queue without waiting and a minute or two later the doors opened. I went for a middle seat in a middle row. As I walked down the row, I looked all around for Jenn, until I finally heard a beautiful voice call my name from the other end of the theater. It was her! She was with her friend (who will go by the name of Jenn's friend in this TR) in a VIP seating area, so I couldn't get down there for a proper greeting. We texted a bit before the show began, though. 11am quickly rolled around and it was then time for the American Idol Experience to begin!

The girl on the left went first. I don't remember her story or whatever, but she sang 'Part of Your World.' She was OK outside of some problems hitting the high stuff. Thankfully she was done pretty quickly and then it was time to hear Elise's absolutely incredible voice!

Glad y'all enjoyed! :D

Katie, thanks for posting those here. :sohappy:

I hope this doesn't burst your bubble but I did not want you to have to wait for your next trip to Japan to get some Poxy, they sell it at Walmart and most grocey stores in the international food isle. By the way great trip report.
Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely check it out.

Jenn's Trip is like the gift that keeps on giving...so much entertainment from such a short trip!
:sohappy: :D
Dude, I was totally thinking you must LOVE LOVE LOVE Mitsukoshi. So much anime and such!

Great Trip report. You dress up nicely...
Why thanks, Sherm! I wish we'd gotten a few straight-up photos of our dressed up selves, but too much awesomeness was being had to even remember to do it.

The backlot tour was closed back in Jan when we were there. Bummer!!

"and contemplated climbing the staircase" (in Mexico) :ROFLOL::ROFLOL:I don't think I'll be able to ever walk past the staircase and not wonder what climbing it would be like. LOL

I love the Dinosaur pic!! Definitely priceless!

Hey I'm glad you mentioned the CBJ refurb. Last time we were there, we skipped it because it wasn't the best the last time we saw it. Next time we go, we'll have to check it out!!

Great trip report!
