Lindelof is no loss. My assumption (based on his other projects) is that he had a compelling pitch but failed to reel in a fully-realized plot. In the end, the man is only good at baiting the hook. Likely, someone else has been found to bring the story to completion.

One post IX subject I would like to see continued is the Dyad. Many seem to feel Kylo/Ben‘s story ended when I feel it left off at a point with the most potential and a gateway into the deeper lore. There's no reason to believe Ben and Rey are no longer linked now that he's become one with the force. They may ascend from mere Skywalkers and become some sort of Planewalkers, able to navigate not only the galaxy, but the living force and its mysteries in a way more tangible and dynamic that a mere force ghost could. This may also be a way to better realize some of the un-used concepts from the original Lucas sequel pitch involing Midi-Chlorians and the Whills.

For sure, that man cannot write a satisfactory conclusion even if his life depended on it, which is a shame because he has mostly good ideas. Was hoping having a partner here could help but alas.

Steven Knight is reportedly now set to write the screenplay.

““Peaky Blinders” creator Steven Knight is set to write the screenplay for the untitled “Star Wars” movie that Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (“Ms. Marvel”) is attached to direct, as original screenwriters Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson have departed the project, Variety has confirmed.

The movie is widely expected to be among Lucasfilm’s first “Star Wars” films since 2019’s “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.” More information about the movie, including a possible title, is expected to be announced at the Star Wars Celebration in London in April. (A representative for Lucasfilm did not respond to a request for comment.)

Knight is a veteran screenwriter who launched his career specializing in gritty crime dramas like 2002’s “Dirty Pretty Things” and 2007’s “Eastern Promises,” eventually branching out to lighthearted dramedies (2014’s “The Hundred-Foot Journey”), war thrillers (2016’s “Allied”), and biopics (2021’s “Spencer”). He also created and executive produced the BBC period crime drama “Peaky Blinders,” which streams on Netflix in the US.”

I think he's a great choice. Is there actually any confirmation the director is still attached or if this is even the same movie? Or is that just being assumed.

For now, I honestly didn’t want any new films.

I’d rather they did the TV shows for a few more years that ended up with maybe a trilogy of moves that crossed all the series.

Why? Its not like fans were thrilled with how the prequels came out.
That's why so many were excited when they announced Disney would purchase Lucasfilm. From Jar Jar to Midi-chlorians. Questionable casting to bad dialogue. Constantly messing with the OT. Unchecked George was a menace to the franchise. Lol So with how successful the MCU was, people were extremely excited to see what Disney would do. The funny part is the prequels have been lifted up a lot, because of the sequels. They are a much more cohesive trilogy than the sequels. So if George came back, as long as he had a Marcia Lucas to keep him in check, I'd be fine with it. Oh, and as long as he has no input on dialogue either. Lol

Eh, like I mentioned he doesn't appear to have any desire to return to film making. At 78 let the man stay retired.

Wife and I are excited for this one. I'd love to see a film where Rey basically communes with as many Jedi as they could get to possibly play a role within the film while trying to figure out how best to rebuild the order. It would be fascinating if they could get some kind of "ideological roundtable" going among the Force Ghosts across the generations of Star Wars and Rey.

The only thing that gives me any worry is hoping they don't just throw some kind of "Empire 3.0" in as the main conflict point. I'd be way more interested in seeing more a "mystical" or "ideological" issue between Jedi (living or dead) being pushed to the front. Maybe the whole debacle puts Rey's ability to commune or use the Force at all, at risk (a la Legend of Korra)? The potential for something really fun, interesting and thought provoking is right in front of them if they put in the effort.

I was going to add a line at the end here about there always being a chance nothing gets made (as seems to be the case with some other films they previously announced) but going through the effort to get Daisy (-and others) to meet with them for lunches at Lucasfilm and then having her show up on stage makes me think they'll push this one through, eventually.
