Trip Report Shanghai (K)nights (and days) - A Max Trip Report - COMPLETE

Hello to All
Welcome to my Trip Report to Japan and China!!
06496314-22C7-45A5-9126-A94BE927D5DB.jpeg

As per previous trips to the Orient this is a business trip with a few leisure detours along the way

The trip was from Nov 16 - Dec 9

It will include a visit of Shanghai Disneyland, and two weekend adventures to Hiroshima and Osaka.

I hope you enjoy the ride as much as I did.

Max

PS
I am really struggling with my pictures for this TR. (this is one of many reasons why it has taken my so long to start it)
All pictures are from my iPhone 7 and my work phone (also a 7)
Every since I updated my iOS I cannot extract pictures from it.
I am trying to email them to myself and they are too big to download.
If anyone has advice please send it.

Okonomiyaki is a dish made in Japan with noodles, eggs, cabbage, meats and other vegetables on a hot skillet.
Two different versions are originated in Osaka and Hiroshima

Think of it like the southern states all claiming to have the best BBQ

The Hiroshima version is layered while the Osaka version is mixed.

Below is the Osaka version we had on Sunday - I prefer it to the Hiroshima style.

My BIL and SIL had to catch a train to the airport so we rushed them to the gate and said our goodbyes
It was great visting them in M's home country for a change (they come to Canada every 2nd year)
She was proud to show me her country (even though she admitted to also being a tourist in the city of Osaka)

Up next - a quick walk around Osaka before I headed back to Toyota city
The deer selfie still trumps the others.....
I see your various animal selfies and raise you one...

Wrap up
I already gave my thoughts on SDL
It is a very young park with inexperienced guests and CMthat needs to mature

For example I was in a single rider line that was not being done properly at Tron
They were randomly leting in single riders and were sending trains with empty seats

Hiroshima hit me hard but it was something that I had to do

The Osaka meet up with my in laws was a great experience

And most of all I have achieved my bucket list item
I know there are many other Disney things to do ( I am looking at you Aulani) but to have been to all 6 resorts is super cool

I am very appreciative of Toyota for giving me the opportunity to “touch them all”

I leave you with two collections that represent all 6 resorts

Thanks for sharing your experience with us! Hiroshima in particular was very special.

Day 3 cont’d
Lost in translation

As I was paying for my early morning taxi I asked the driver to come back at 7:30
I actually punched in 730 into the calculator on my phone and pointed to it and the cab - trying to say come back and get me

So I finished up my walk and was waiting at the curb - and no taxi

Finally at 7:45 I started waving on taxis to try to have them stop.

One did stop and I climbed in - handed the driver the business card for the Toy Story hotel

After a couple of minutes he shook his head and kicked me to the curb

And now panic sets in - I have a 1pm flight to Japan!!

I was able to wave down another cab around 8am and got back to the hotel in one piece!

Went back to the caf for breakfast (Note: Not my baby!!)

Then took a few more pictures around the hotel grounds
View attachment 262280View attachment 262284View attachment 262285
found some interesting potato chip flavours

Was tempting by these square mugs but I had already picked up one from the park
(and DW was only willing to put up with one more mug!! - I am a little obsessed)

And then it was check out, cab to the airport and flight to Nagoya.

Day 4-8 was all work so the next post will be Day 9 in Hiroshima, Japan

(yes it will get real , but there was some fun stuff to report on as well)
My hubby says he would of brought home one mug to make me happy and then would have mailed the rest. Lol

Just finished catching up on your report. How amazing that you've now been to all the Disney parks in the world! My daughter desperately wants to visit Japan and China someday, she keeps trying to lure me in by pointing out that they both have Disney parks. I tell her that I'll tag along with her if she plans the trips when she's an adult:). Great deer selfie by the way!

Yaaassss love the selfies with animals montage! :joyfull:
It is about as "one with nature" as you are going get!!
I just read this weekend that Kids over there always get a kitkat as a good luck before each big test.
Yes you are correct
Noticed this article online:
Nestlé noticed surging sales every January as customers bought KitKats as good-luck presents for students sitting university entrance exams.
I see your various animal selfies and raise you one...
Polar Bear selfie!!! (Taken at our local zoo) :joyfull:
Oh yeah, well its on - bring it it!!!

JK - love the picture

Haha I'm afraid I don't have your talent of selfie taking or @AKemily's luck of being able to walk to a zoo on her lunch breaks, so I think you've both got me beat on this one :hilarious:
Where is the creativity? - Did the cold harsh Peg winter suck it right out of you?
It doesn't have to be at the zoo - find a squirrel!!!

Thanks for sharing your experience with us! Hiroshima in particular was very special.
Thank you for following - I am glad you enjoyed all of it
My hubby says he would of brought home one mug to make me happy and then would have mailed the rest. Lol
I like it!!
Your trip report was amazing. Wow. I am so glad I joined this site. Thank you for sharing
Welcome to the boards - I am glad you enjoyed it
Sorry to hear you haven't another trip planned as that means no trip report in the near future. I love your writing style and how it's about your whole trip and not just the parks :)
Thank you for the compliment - I do not consider myself a great writer - I just try to let the pictures speak for themselves and add in here and there.
Personally I struggle with other TR's that are heavy text based.

Don’t leave us!!
Sorry did I imply I was leaving???
And where exactly would I go? Its not like anyone else would take me right?
This is my internet home - the place I can tell all my corny jokes and make crazy comments...
AND YOUSE GUYZE LIKE IT!!??!!

(Special shout out to Youse Guyze Moychindice in DHS - I assume it will now rest in peace )

Thanks for taking us with you across the world!
It was my pleasure
If it sparks interest in others to do the same - my job here is done

(and no @Tuvalu - this also doesn't mean I am leaving
Let it go, let it go.)

Thanks for a great report! Looking forward to your next one sometime! Also, great mugs!
Everyone has their thing that they collect
Mugs and Magnets are a staple for me.
And hats
And pins
And die cast ride vehicles like this one.. (not sure if anyone else collects these)

welcome back, max
:p

thanks, again, for taking us with you!
It was my pleasure
(and with regard to the Welcome Back - where did I actually go - it is still 2011 right????)

I want them all! (For the kids...). I really want Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs but the set they have available online is only the micro ones and buying them separately across the internet is scary $$$ lol.
I did not look at cost at all so no idea if this set was expensive or not.
They seem to love them in China and Japan

Loved it Max!!!!
Glad that you did!!
Now I just have to set up plans for another trip.
I have been writing a report of some type since last summer.
Not sure if I can handle not having one on the go!!!

I like your idea of tagging along with her
The trips are expensive and I would not have done them without assistance.
(Toyota paid all airfare and most hotel/meal cost - I paid tickets / some meals & hotel/ souvenirs)

In hindsight the deer selfie was probably a little too risky - she could have tried to eat phone!!!
