Trip Report Shanghai (K)nights (and days) - A Max Trip Report - COMPLETE

Hello to All
Welcome to my Trip Report to Japan and China!!
06496314-22C7-45A5-9126-A94BE927D5DB.jpeg

As per previous trips to the Orient this is a business trip with a few leisure detours along the way

The trip was from Nov 16 - Dec 9

It will include a visit of Shanghai Disneyland, and two weekend adventures to Hiroshima and Osaka.

I hope you enjoy the ride as much as I did.

Max

PS
I am really struggling with my pictures for this TR. (this is one of many reasons why it has taken my so long to start it)
All pictures are from my iPhone 7 and my work phone (also a 7)
Every since I updated my iOS I cannot extract pictures from it.
I am trying to email them to myself and they are too big to download.
If anyone has advice please send it.

Day 9 cont’d
It was getting late and the line up to get back on the gondolas was long so we went back down
A few pictures on the way

By the time we got back down the tide was going out
I would have like to stick around till it went fully out to stand by the gate but it would have been too late

Back near the water and the gate was lit up

Took this one of J trying to get a picture with the deer
J went to school and received a degree in zoology , worked at a park near us here in Canada called African Lion Safari so he was into the deer.

Those are all cute mugs, good choices. But really can one have enough mugs? Ok maybe...my cabinet is getting full too
I just keep moving/throw out all the non Disney mugs - it is a strategy that works for me!
Only on page 3 right now, but I am OBSESSED with the Toy Story hotel! If the WDW value hotels were that cool, I'd stay there every time!!
It was a cool hotel - the only thing I would improve would be to add lighting so that it looked better at night.
Thank you for sharing these. They are very touching. And I agree with your statement.
I appreciate your reply
I agree with your sentiment as well Max. It is a hard topic, but it is an important one. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.
It is something I felt compelled to do.
I have visited Japan eight times now and felt bad inside that I had not shown my respects.
Thank you for sharing the Hiroshima pictures. I'm sure it was a very emotional experience.
Emotional? Lets just say I was glad it was sunny enough to warrant wearing sunglasses.
Especially at the mound - I was losing it there and then later inside the museum
Wow seeing the Toy Story parade floats makes me miss parades at DHS. Just think, AK and DHS, and even Epcot all once had parades! Why do you taketh away dear Disney! :(

Your pictures make me happy, so for my momentary sadness.

And to clarify, a week or two at each resort. :p So yes, I do need to hit the lottery! HA!
I can say that I have actually witnessed daytime parades at all the parks
And we know why they taketh away
Keep playing the numbers

And about your 2040 trip - I would want to go but by then I feel I would really slow you folks down
Thankyou for sharing those pictures & your experience at Hiroshima Max.

I think I’ve already said but I LOVE the Toy Story hotel! I hope they plan to build one in line with TSL at WDW!!

Hanging on to hear the rest of your report :)
Thank you for the reply
Having that hotel near TSL would be cool for sure
So sad...I wish that it would work, but looking at some of the world leaders, I don't know that the impact would be a positive one for the rest of the world. I see the glint in the eyes of some leaders and I think they would be more interested in the possibilities than in the tragedy...that it would give them ideas we don't want them to have. I could be wrong, and I would love for them to be motivated to establish peace, but I don't see it at the moment.
I appreciate you taking the time to reply and I really hope (for everyone sake) that you are wrong on this one

Very moving photos from Hiroshima, Max; thanks for sharing.
It was a very moving experience that I really wanted to share.
I know it does not fit the vibe of this section of the forum.
I bet most people are surprised that a clown like me has some depth to him !!!

Pretty pictures of the gate area! I'm glad none of you were injured by the deer!:)
They were not aggressive toward people but I did see one attacked a persons bag looking for food!!

I totally have been to African Lion Safari!! How cool :)

Love your photos!! I wanna go next time LOL
You have been to the African Lion Safari in Rockton , Ontario , Canada?
its a small world indeed!!

Deer selfie :hilarious:
Would you expect anything less from me, really?
Wait till you see the selfies I did at the Osaka Aquarium!!

That panorama is BEAUTIFUL! I would love to go to Japan someday and see these things in person :)
I wish that great photographers like you and @fractal could have been there.
With your great eye and equipment you could have created a masterpiece.

When I taught I had a sign like this above my classroom door. Okay, back to reading...
Way to create an environment for higher learning!!!!
Thanks for reading and replying

Max

Oh my gosh where so I start?! I am so excited for Tron after seeing those pictures! POTC also looks incredible! Everyone always talks about how cool it is! SDL in general looks breathtaking although I had a hard enough time with line cutters in DLR not sure I could handle even more in SDL! That Toy Story Hotel is a dream. Thanks for sharing all of the other pictures as well. Love that deer selfie!

Day 10 Travel back to Nagoya
A few views from my hotel room - across the river to the right is the memorial museum
View attachment 263752View attachment 263753View attachment 263754
I toured around the memorial sites before eating breakfast and then travelling back to Nagoya

A few more interesting potato chip flavours - this time in Japan
View attachment 263755View attachment 263756

And who doesn't love a video of a bullet train

I've always wanted to ride on the Tokaido Shinkansen. Love your little video. That train is so smooth and sleek, and FAST!!

You could have always done a @Tuvalu and gotten a small child to share with you. Lol
If I did a true @Tuvalu I would have to have a parent buy them for their baby and then steal them.

Her story of how she "obtained" the dryer lint was suspect and had more holes than a piece of Swiss Cheese!!

Max

PS - Bring it on @Tuvalu - you have been way too silent today!!

Day 10 Festival of Lights
After the bullet train we boarded a bus to go outside of Nagoya to see an amazing light display
Not quite Osborne but still very cool

We went up in this lift (looks a lot like Men in Black space ship)
It did a 360 degree rotation

This last tunnel represents Cherry blossom season
The video shows the green transforming to lovely pink blossoms .

This was the end to a very full weekend.

Up next: Weekend #3 - Osaka (and yes there is a Disney tie in here too)
