Stitch was open for the whole run of Fridays MNSSHP. There is a good chance it will also be open for Sundays run as well. However, tickets for Sunday are already sold out.
Now, My review:
Pre-Show: I found the pre-show to be effective, if not simple. The cartoon animation was good. The reason your there is explained easily enough that anyone will understand it.
Pre-Show2: This pre-show featuring Skippy and SIR is also very effective. However, I do question the amount of "Gayness" that they play up in it. Very nice work on the audio animatronics, Nice movement! Again, the pre-show feels really nice, you know why your there and it really gives you a sense of something "Big" is going to happen.
The Main Show: Well, I'll say this much. The Stitch figure moves like NOTHING I've ever seen. Damn, they must have blown half the budget on that thing. You won't believe how freaking real it looks. The two laser cannons are very quick as well. Again, that must have been the other half of the budget. I say that, because apparently for the show itself there wasn't much of a budget left. I found the show to be cute, yet really lacking in something. Stitch enters the tube, and is at first really cute. They lift up the shield thinking that he's not really a "Level 3".. Stitch then starts "Spitting" to short out the controls.
As the controls short out, our theater goes into darkness and we get into the main 3D audio section of the show. The 3D audio was very well done, but I felt it could have been better used. Too much time is spent with Stitch just making his way around the theater, not really doing much. There is the Chilidog bit (note, do they actually allow you to enter a ride with a chili dog these days, I thought no food was allowed inside the main show?) There is a bit with Stitch jumping up and down, hence the harness bobbing up and down.... that really leaves a lot lacking. Stitch does mess with your hair (about the only really "Scare" part of the show BTW) and of course he spits.
Now we come to the ending of the show and this is pretty much where it gets the worst. The get the power back on and the cannons come up. They start blasting away at the theater; stitch manages to get back into the tube and with his amazing stitch powers takes control of it and transports himself out. We see a carton version of Florida on the screen, it zooms in and we cut to a quick show of the AstroOrbiter, with stitch hanging on a car as it fly’s around. This lasts all of about 4 seconds and then, they unlock you and you leave. Folks, the ending really is pointless. I was really expecting some big stitch live/action tie in thing/blue screen etc. Nevermind why Stitch can suddenly "Control" the place.
So there you have it. It's cute, but it's a ride that I would NOT wait more than 20 minuets to go on. I wouldn't really re-ride it again. To be sure, it's no "Mickey’s Philermagic." No sense of "WOW" as you walk out the door, not much talk of people saying stuff like "that was the coolest thing ever" I'm actually going to predict that we will see a change in the ride in the next month or so. I found that the whole mix of Cartoon on the video and then live action at the end didn't work. If were going to go with a cartoon pre-show, then stick with it thru the ride. Or go with live action all the way thru.
I found that some of the theater effects are not used. I didn't feel stitches breath on my neck, there is a hole of some type in the seat that could be used for an effect that wasn't used, and the chilidog scent was.... Well not quite chilidog really.
Currently, one theater is down so it IS possible that they are already re-tooling the show and once that show is down it will be then brought online in both theaters. So in short.
