Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Discussion

The Barnstormer goes about 25 mph and Big Thunder goes about 35 mph--so that would leave us around 30 mph...which is faster than Space Mountain, I believe.

the Space Mountain in Paris goes about 43 mph :D lol but your right the one in MK goes about 30 mph so this ride is gunna be pretty intense for little kids if its going that fast

Size matters...

When I overlaid Big Thunder Mountain's footprint over the Fantasyland expansion area, I found that it would fit into where Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty's chateau and the Pooh play area were going to go and not even touch the Pixie Hollow area. So there's easily much more room for the Snow White and the 7 Dwarf's attraction to expand into. With all the track space and incorporating many cross over and unders in addition to varying the speed between the slower story scenes and the fast getaways, this could be a real nice worthwhile (time-wise) attraction and great upgrade/replacement of the old Snow White's Scary Adventures...er, Under New Management;)).

And the old SWSA building should make a perfect meet and greet location...right next to the castle instead of in a big circus tent in the middle of toontown...and you can meet and greet several princesses in one shot (instead of having to wait in a separate line for each, as they originally proposed)...and this solution also caters to other princesses like Rapunzel (Gesundheit), and/or villains.

Unfortunately they are removing Mickey's perfect spot, without ANY replacement:brick:

Maybe, now they can tell the story in the correct sequence instead of having the Queen turn into a hag BEFORE Snow White is chased off into the forest?!? And then they can reveal the truth...that the evil queen survived, captured Prince Dontavanam, and transformed HERSELF into the Prince and woke Snow White and married her...I know it's real messed up, but as they say, keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

i dont see how the ride wouldnt be any larger then then the other ride buildings. look at google earth and compare the size of IASW builing, (the largest in fl to date) with the space available between the 2 buildings as seen now in the latest construction pics. the entire ride layout would have to be small, which meens it wont be fast. id guess it would be more compareable to the people mover in tomorrowland in terms of speed.

the available land really isnt that big, and after they cover those new buildings with rock work and other things to simulate the concept art, there will be even less land left for the mine train.

there is also the overlooked possibility of going underground, but i doubt it

From the layout, as of June 2010, most of the ride will be in the mine (indoors, in the narrow mine) with a small show building hidden under the hill seen in the concept art. As of now there are only a couple of small areas that are outdoors, in spite of what the art shows. One of them on the straightaway right after the 360 degree (circle) turn on the east side of the layout and the other one on the far west side just before the last 360 turn into the station.

I think the indoor/outdoor aspect could be interesting. Too bad we have to wait so long to see how it turns out.

In the latest Eyes & Ears CM magazine issue, there is a concept art showcasing that scene, and it's exactly as you described it, except there is also an open door ;)

I saw it too. I'm guessing that is the finale since it goes directly next to the cottage right around the unload area.

It really is amazing that the Dwarfs coaster was the last minute change and it seems to be the only thing anybody cares about. I know it's the only thing in this expansion that I care about, so I'm glad it's in there - but just how bad would that initial set of M&G plans have been? They almost wasted an extraordinary amount of money imho.

Does anyone know what the difference in cost is between the original meet and greets and the new mine coaster? I have to think this added to the overall price of the new fantasyland...

I am sure the mine coaster is more, but remember they have also nixed pixie hallow and what I hope is Storybook Circus V1.0 is recycling some existing structure from Toon Town Fair. My guess is those changes all balance out the added cost of the new coaster, which I think is worth the sacrifice.

YES! All these photoshopped images and paint images (thanks guys) has turned this mine coaster from a wow this will be cool when it actually happens, to a THIS IS HAPPENING NOWWWWWW! -type thing.

It wont be a kiddy ride it will be a ride directed at all ages from what i'm hearing. A million times better than making birthday cards with Aurora haha.

Cant Wait!!!

I'm liking the FL expansion more and more, mainly for two reasons:

1. This coaster
2. Keeping Goofy and the Barnstormer, albeit with a slightly different theme

Our whole family will probably be able to ride by the time it opens, so that's always a plus in our book. Our 2 1/2 yr old can ride Barnstormer, so if she can do that, she'll probably grow enough to ride the Seven Dwarfs' coaster.

As for TSM, and the fact that it's a newer DisneyQuest-type attraction, remember the old Michael Eisner quote - "Fool them into thinking they are having a good time". :lookaroun

Wait a second, I hadn't even thought of that. When was the last time the Magic Kingdom got a legitimately exciting new ride?

The Mansion refurb was cool, but that's a refurb. MILF was never an exciting thing. Stitch is essentially a refurb and in no way exciting. Same for UNM. Buzz? It's debatable whether or not that was an exciting addition, plus, it's just a retooling of an existing building and ride system.

So. . . Alien Encounter maybe? Splash Mountain?! Not that I'm comparing this to Splash, but I had not considered how long it's been.

Wait, I just remembered Philhar. Which is a legitimately good attraction, but it, like Buzz, directly replaced an existing attraction, is not a ride, and I don't seem to remember people exactly looking forward to it prior to opening. So it's not quite the same.

So I'm still wondering with no confirmations... the Snow White cottage with be near an exit, but is it:
1. Just the rider exit?
2. Shop only?
3. Snow & Dwarf M&G?

I would think Disney would lean toward a shop? But I hope they combine it with a M&G, like the Shop in Epcot's England with Pooh & friends. With the huge character push it seems like it would make sense, right?

With the ride still years away it might be a while before we know for sure. I think a meet and greet near a ride exit is a traffic nightmare, but who knows?

The cottage isn't a M&G.
I believe it may be a combo of shop and the ride's final scene.
Trying to confirm.

^^^ Most likely, because there arent many big rides without a gift shop attached to them (ie. Tower, Rock'n, Philhar, Dinosaur, etc)
