Trip Report Semi-live, Visiting w/ a Brazilian Tour Group of Cheerleaders celebrating Jersey Spring Break

Ok, hopefully the title of this report got your attention. Technically none of it is accurate. It was just shameless Disney TR click bait. But since you're here, you might as well follow along. Plus, I have embedded a computer code so if you try and leave it will instantly direct you to a non stop loop of the JG Wentworth theme song which will play in the background whenever your computer is on. If you leave, I hope you have a structured settlement but you need cash now.

Ok then, For those of you still here, allow me to present the details of this PTR.

Who: My wife and I

ck.jpg

Where: AKL

When: July

Why?: Basically, I want my wife to win the Tuvalu 500 (which is the race for most visits to WDW in 2018). @blgauger , you are excluded from this competition since you live like 2 minutes away from WDW and plus, you need to focus on riding BTMRR as many times as possible!! My wife has some stiff competition between @Tuvalu , @TrolleyFollower91 , @sheriffwoody , @lostpro9het , @imahistorygeek and several others. We are almost half way through 2018 and its a close race!

I encourage anybody reading this report to please post how many visits you have so far this year. Even if its just one or two, feel free to compete. And FYI, this a friendly competition and there is really no win or loose. But lets face it, we are all losers here, considering we spend so much time on an unofficial fan forum of WDW:D:cool::cool:. But we are the COOLEST losers ever!!!

Aside from it being my wifes 5th trip this year, I am very much looking forward to returning to AKL. Even though I stayed there last summer for a few nights with my family, its been a few years since C and I have stayed there together. And now that we are official DVC Members, I constantly check availability and the other day I saw a few days open at AKL (Jambo) so I snagged it. It just so happened to be the morning that C and her mom were heading home from their recent Disney trip (this past Friday), so when I called to let her know, it definitely perked her up. She is not a fan of the Fla humidity in Summer but she is willing to deal with it for me. We will just try and avoid the extreme heat in the afternoons. No ADR's planned yet but Ill keep this updated as we get closer.

Have a great day everybody!

Love the start (especially the BTMRR picture (obviously).

And for me it’s 1 bonus trip already - 10days anda 14 day trip in November (as normal!)

The big question “is the back row better on SDD?” Can’t wait to ride it!

Thankfully I’ve never experience tour groups but it sounds like you need to have elbows at the ready!

Enjoy your trip

And good morning from the Savana

About a week ago I ate or drank something that got me very ill for about 24 hours and it is still wreaking havoc on my stomach occasionally, so having coffee is a dangerous game to play right now. C has me drinking this apple cider vinegar juice instead.

It's not bad and definitely helps, but the coffee withdrawal is for real!!!!

We are heading to Epcot I think. Updates to come later. Have a blessed day everyone.

The girsl loved the back row on SDD but we haven't ridden again so hopefully we will and get a comparison on if it makes a difference. Judging by the style of coaster and amount hills, I think the back will most likely allow for a faster feeling.

And yes, the tour groups are insane. Individually I am.sure they are all nice people , but put them all together in a herd and they will take over whatever area they are in. Even after they all got to the second magic band checkpoint in the lobby at ToT, one of their group leaders (a man, not the polite woman I encountered) went in front of the CM and started waiving them all through and disregarded the CM trying to allow the standby people to get by. The poor CM just let them go and I understand why because it was just easier to get them all out of the way.

Also forgot to say - I wish you were my uncle! A trip to Disney - that’s one very lucky niece!

Have a fun day

Any alcohol content in that fermented drink?

One of my favorite things was swimming at the end of the day at AKL! Such a great pool.

The tour groups would probably put me over the edge. I've luckily never had to deal with them.

No coffee?! I'd die a little. Hopefully the ACV is helping.

Yes! AKL pool at night is great. Or really anytime, lol. And no coffee was rough. Haha
I feel for ya @wdisney9000 on the stomach issue. Just when you think it's gone, then bam it starts back up.

I'm so happy that I know you're there at Disney. It makes me feel like I'm there just a little bit
Thanks! The stomach bug is no joke. And glad our trip can bring some joy to those who are not here (yet).
I bet I'm not the only one wondering - where's the phone?

Seriously though, looks like a blast!
Oh do not worry. I will.be making phone calls soon!
I just bought some, but haven't tried it yet. Good to know it's not icky.
It is like grape.juice with vinegar. Nothing amazing, but definitely helped this morning.

We wound up going to AK after realizing that Epcot has evening EMH. Started off with Everest, @Longers status of course.

Dinosaur was up next. We topped for a photo on the way.

We dumped off our extra large passenger after Dinosaur and headed to Africa and boarded Simba One for a nice Safari ride.

Up next... @lostpro9het 's favorite section of AK...Black Light Land!!!

We had about 45 minutes until our FoP FP so went to Satu'li Canteen for some cake and beer.

Gotta love the mobile ordering on the Disney app. We breezed right in and grabbed our stuff. Organic blonde ale for the beer and the cheesecake for the minor.

Do you even Pandora, bro???

IMG_20180710_122737.jpg

We had noticed these red buckets before and we debated if it was a legit hidden Mickey
IMG_20180710_122926.jpg

They are in the standby queue so I had to take a pic through the glass. What do you guys think? Has anyone noticed them before?

Soon we were watching the Xanax induced pre ride video

It was great ride as usual and we headed back to the resort for some time at the pool and I needed to catch the World Cup match!!!

PB&J's at the pool with the ladies

IMG_20180710_142647.jpg

We took a dip in the pool after (again, i forgot how enjoyable a swim.in hot weather at Disney can be) and then I grabbed a brewski at the bar and got some World Cup action in

IMG_20180710_150141.jpg

Whilst enjoying the adult atmosphere of the bar, two ladies approached with their kids and decided it was cool to order a bunch of sodas and take up a large portion of the bar seating. She asked for lids for the drinks which the bartender explained AKL does not allow lids for the safety of the animals. The woman exclaimed they need them because they are "about to get in the car with the drinks", as if the animals safety is secondary to her children's inability to not spill a drink, smh! The bartender responded with the exact same statement he made prior (literally word for word, "AKL does not allow for the safety of the animals"). She busted a long sigh while staring at the bartender hoping he would budge. He did not and she paid her tab and left. Beat it, lady!

After awhile we headed up to the room to shower and are now on our way to HS for an ADR. Any guesses on where we are going?

That was beyond rude to the CM, who was just trying to do his/her job. What bothers me even more is that the group leader is supposed to be a chaperone--and set a good example as the ADULT (supposedly) of the group. It's a disgrace. :(

Yes, lady, it's ANIMAL Kingdom Lodge. Protection of the animals is the number 1 priority. Why was this concept so foreign to her? It's not that I minded her asking for the lids, but when the response from the bartender was clearly articulated, she was still pushing for the stinking lids??!!! :banghead:
