Caramel Apple Cream Pie
(Serves 8)
METHOD OF PREPARATION
- 9 Inch Pastry Shell 1
- Butter 1/4 Cup
- Brown sugar 1/2 cup
- Large Apples, peeled and cut into 1/2 inch pieces 4
- Cinnamon 1/2 Teaspoon
- Allspice 1/4 teaspoon
- Nutmeg 1/4 teaspoon
- Flour 2 tablespoons
- Caramel Ice cream topping 1/2 cup
- Walnuts, chopped 1/2 cup
- Cream Cheese 8 Ounces
- Sugar 1/4 Cup
- Egg 1
- Lemon juice 1 tablespoon
- Vanilla 1 teaspoon
- Whipped Cream As Desired
- Preheat an oven to 350 degrees.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter and brown sugar; stir in the apples, half of the cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice. Cook mixture for 10 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Add the flour and mix well.
- Pour the caramel sauce in the empty pie shell and add the walnuts; spoon in apple mixture and set aside.
- In another bowl, add the cream cheese, sugar, lemon juice, the egg and vanilla and beat until fluffy.
- Spread this over the apples and bake for 40 minutes; then cool on a rack.
- Add remaining spices to whipped cream and serve with a dollop of spiced whipped cream on top of pie.
