Screamscape - New Disney Resort??

Not really. The current capacity of the parks, DTD, water parks, etc far exceeds the available on property resort capacity.

Disney rooms numbers are obviously not going to coincide with any park/DTD 'capacity' numbers. Many people who go to WDW will never stay on site. And as was stated, there are many times that the resorts are far from filled to capacity. Pop Century? Building more resorts for the busy times just means more empty rooms during slow times.

Yes, yes I do... :drevil:

Not atypical of all timeshares. You have to be willing to book in advance to make it work. If you're a last minute traveler who cares about specific resort location, this may not be a good purchase.

Awesome news! We can't wait to actually stay here, but have no immediate plans to do so. AKV in December and BWV next October, who knows when we'll actually get to stay at BLT.

Yup I have never stayed at an MK are resort either so it should be good stuff!

I just bought DVC as well and I have to wonder if anyone would choose AKV over BLT. BLT is cheaper for annual dues (no animals plus a highrise is cheaper to maintain) and it seems like BLT has more demand from current DVC members than AKV. The home resort advantage is useful at BLT where at AKV you could probably get what you want at 7 months vs 11. It is no surprise to me that AKV is selling slower when BLT is on the table too.

I chose AKV over BLT because The parks are busy enough so i dont need resort like blt right next door.

Also I dont like the rooms at blt. I am 30 min away from nyc the rooms look like a room i can get in nyc.

AKV feels like a disney resort. It feels like your in africa. I also love talking to the employees who live in africa.

PS IN my opinion the feel of akl trumps the bus service. ALSO We consistantly get better bus service at AKV then we do at saratoga

I tried the search function, but came up empty. Does anybody remember several months ago there were some soil or maybe it was core samples being done in Ft. Wilderness? It sure seemed odd at the time. Sure wish I could find that thread. That might shed some light on what is going on today...

I chose AKL over BLT recently (granted I did purchase resale which made a big difference in price). However, after visiting both, I don't find BLT to be anything special besides the convenience to MK. Also, I think that the rooms at BLT are very overpriced for what you get since you are basically stuck with a lake view room if you don't book very far in advnace. If I do plan in advance, AKL offers me a great per night point stay in a value room and I have the ability to book concierge to splurge.

BLT dues WILL go up after the resort sells more. Right now Disney is still sibsidizing the dues on the property which will change later on. It is a good ploy in order to get people to purchase there.

It was merely an example to show that there is still room more resorts not a suggestion that Disney should keep building resorts until their room capacity equals their park capacity. When are these slow times that you speak of? Disney has done a very good job at filling in the attendance valleys.

For the most part EMH are good. Morning EMH at all parks always seem to be good, and evening EMH at MK after 11PM makes it a ghost park.

I tend to go to WDW at the less busy times, but even for me, it's hard to get much mileage out of EMH. Although, as you say, the morning EMH usually isn't very crowded, it does make that park more crowded overall as time goes on, so you have to plan on an early park hop, which may erase the time gained from the EMH. Plus you had to get up earlier :). So I tend to "use" EMH the other way you mention:

And even when the park is sold out EMH is a benefit, because the other way to look at it is, if you know it's a busy time and everyone is headed to a certain park one morning, maybe that'd be a great day to head to a different one.

To the extent that's a "benefit," though, it wouldn't matter if you're staying at a Disney resort or not. In other words, that's not a reason for staying on-site, that's a reason for hoping that other people do!

The deluxe hotels pay more so they can get more frequent bus service.
Not entirely true. Some of the worst bus service we have ever had has been at the Poly and the Contemporary. More than anyting I think it boils downs to the number of stops a particular route has.

The area between the Lodge and ft wilderness was once earmarked for Disneys Wilderness Junction Resort, which was to have been on the moderate level like Port Orleans etc. That type of thing would be a great fit there, but another mega property or high rise bay lake towers type building would just ruin that beautiful area to me. I hope they dont do that.

Yes it is entirely true, I didn't say it was consistently great service but simply that fact is the deluxe hotels pay out a higher rate to the transportation dept so they get more intervals of buses. It doesn't always work out better but theoretically it should.

I heard from a DVC rep. that WDW has finally realized that they have been sort of short on rooms for families of five and they are making changes to some of their current resorts where possible to accomodate five. Maybe an addition that is not DVC that could accomodate five other than the cabins is coming.

You would think that they would simply put a dedicated line on each deluxe resort. I can see GF and the Poly or The Contemporary and BLT sharing a route but it is rather brutal when all 4 are on the same route.

Where is a good place to purchase 3rd party DVC contracts, we are considering buying into DVC and would like to see some other options.

Thanks

Agreed. Once I saw the rumor I was hoping this is what it was going to be. Wilderness Junction seemed like a great way to tie WL to FW. I hope it turns out to be a similar idea to this. Could be another family suite resort too...
