Say goodbye to ALL the clubs at PI.

This sucks. I was hoping to bring my boyfriend there in our Nov trip. He's never been and the last time I went was a LONG time ago.

But, I hope they open an amazing Apple Store there. I would transfer in a heartbeat!

Disney has been killing PI for years. Now it's just the nails in coffin. What I don't understand is what comments and research they are referring to about more family entertainment. I mean there are 4 Theme Parks, 2 Water Parks, Marketplace, and West Side plus all the resorts for "family entertainment". PI was hugely successful until they started to change and ruin it. I don't mind change when it's good change. Why they have to kill one tiny adult themed area in all of the 47 square miles that is Disney World is beside me. I have no respect for this decision and a little piece of Disney inside me has just died.

Well, at least i wont have to deal with babies in strollers while I'm having a good time drinking.

Ungating the island is what killed it. Sad to see the Adv Club go, alas with the talent there, they wont have trouble finding other roles on property.

So...who is theis Kevin Lansberry, anyway?

"During his career, Kevin has had a unique variety of professional experiences beginning hiscareer in Finance and supporting several different Operations areas before moving into theBusiness Development area and preparing feasibility studies for many of the current WaltDisney World businesses.

Kevin then started the Alliance Development team at Walt DisneyWorld and worked with the company’s Corporate Partners on world-wide relationships. Fromthere he moved back to Finance as a Vice President at Walt Disney World and subsequentlyrelocated to Disneyland as Vice President of Finance.

In July of 2007 Kevin returned fromDisneyland to accept the role of Vice President of Downtown Disney.

Kevin holds a BS in Finance from Ball State University and an MBA from the Crummer School of Business at Rollins College."

A bean counter. An accountaneer. A sharp pencil boy.

Also, I just fired off an email to a rather well known and popular fan of the club. Will post the reply when it arrives, assuming it is appropriate.

Doesnt MBA mean something along the lines of Master of BS? Either way man, its been dying for a long time. Shoulda kept comedy and Adv Club. Maybe your adventuring contact can come in and save the place.

C'mon Dave... Peter has his MBA, and you've met him.

An MBA isn't a Masters in BS. The people that are full of it were full of it long before they went to college.

AC overrated?

I know a lot of you love the AC but i dont know why. I have been to these shows a few times and they seem to be pretty ignorant towards people sometimes. I know its part of the show but drunken lounge acts belong in vegas not at disney.
I know its mostly ad libbed but cmon...the only thing that really makes it funny is that you wouldnt expect the sexual innuendo at disney. I think the whole area is a little unfamily oriented and if you really want that kind of atmosphere then there are plenty of bars that offer way cheaper drinks and a lot better music.

And i never get over that smell of drunken beligerants running around while kids are breezing by in strollers.....if its going to be adult oriented they really shouldnt let kids anywhere near that area.

I see this as a positive thing for Disney. I am sorry for everyone who are losing something about Disney they enjoy but I could not be happier about this change!

sad

Hello guys--it has been a LONG time since I have commented on here, but I have to say that PI always played a big part in our vacation. I was not a fan when the turnstiles were removed, as I felt that this was better suited as a 21+ area, and seeing a baby in a stoller after having just left Mannequins (and having had a few coctails) was a bit of a bummer. But to take it all away is such a dissappointment. Hopefully the new west end area they are building will have a 21+ area to replace PI.
Is Disneyland soon to follow?

i've only been to the clubs once, but i definitely won't miss the drunks migrating over to the planet hollywood area. i understand disney was trying to reach the adult crowd here, but i don't understand the reasoning for putting pleasure island so close to downtown disney.

Sadly, you're right. There has been a shift as to what PI is verses what guests want in nightly entertainment. The problems that are inherent with alcohol establishments and the associated crime that comes with drunken stupidity really outweights anything you could complain about. Alcohol isn't really that Disney-like.

I'm sad to see AdvClub go. But I'm glad to see all the associated problems with alcohol establishments go as well. If you want to get your drink on at disney, there are plenty of bars and restaurants at resorts where you can do it. Other than AC, no great loss.

Why are you bringing your child in a stroller into an Alcohol environment? You are supposed to be responsible enough not to bring a child - or a newborn (Vanessa!) - into a bar or nightclub.

For those asking about Raglan Road....as it is primarily a restaurant, and out at the edge of PI....I doubt that it is part of this plan.

AC.....:(
