Say bye-bye to E-Ride Nights and Plaza Pavilion

Good to see some food variety being offered in the MK. I look forward to the Tomorrowland Terrace Noodles. I always forgot about the Plaza Pavillion, being that it is tucked into the corner. The couple of times I went over that way it looked like they served phony gross looking pizza. The asian food will be a welcome change.

I hope the ending o E-Ride nights is only for these winter months and they will still be offered in the summer. My family loves these--the smaller crowds are a plus, but there is something extra magical about running around Magic Kingdom in the middle of the night.

This is a real bummer. I can only sum up my feelings about asian food as :hurl:. I will definetely miss gazing at the castle while enjoying a meal with my kids, since the Plaza was a favorite because of the pizza and tenders (what kid doesn't like those choices?? ). I liked the e-ride nights too, and didn't mind paying extra to have easier access to the rides. Okay this is depressing and I am not thrilled with the direction 2005 is taking.

The Plaza Pavilion will be no more as of January 5.
Figures. I was there just the other day and literally said out loud that this was my new favorite fast food place in MK.

Don't worry, the new Extra Magic Hours program includes night hours as well as morning hours. In fact, they are 3 extra hours, the same as E-rides (according to allearsnet.com). So the only real differences are that more attractions will be open and it won't cost extra, but there will be more people participating.

Right now the new EMH schedule should start on January 2nd with the rest of Magic Your Way.

MK: Fri. morning and Wed. night
Epcot: Mon. morning and Thurs. night
MGM: Tues. morning and Sun. night
AK: Sat. morning and Tues. night

It appears that they will be using this schedule from 1/2 - 1/15. The week of 1/16 - 1/22 will be slightly different.

I hope they have sweet and sour chicken...glad they are trying to cater to different groups of people now. There are still more than enough burger/fries places for all of us that like that type of food, and I can honestly say I never went to the Plaza Pavillion simply b/c I prefer Cosmic Ray's and Pecos Bills (Columbia Harbor House if I feel like it)...maybe now I'll try this place out (if it has sweet and sour chicken :D)

I won't miss E-Ride Nights...now we get to go into all four parks late at night!

I agree with you. I will miss the pizza a lot (it is my mom's favorite, after all!), but it is kinda cool that Disney is trying different kinds of food in their parks, especially the MK. Everywhere you turn... hot dog, burger, turkey leg, chicken strips. Not saying that I don't like them, which I love them all, but change can be a good thing.

My mom used to tell me stories when the Asian place was open in Adventureland, I believe it was sponsored by Kikkoman, if anyone else remembers this, help me out. :) She remembers it to be delicious, and was devastated when it closed down... and now sits unused... for years... oh well. At least that won't be the fate of the Plaza Pavillion! :animwink:

I can't remember the exact menu, but I do remember it being a welcome change to burgers, chicken strips and pizza.

To everyone who is turning their nose up at something not a burger - give it a try. Your taste buds may thank you for the change.

Didnt E ride nights re appear during May August this summer and none scheduled at any other time. i know King rat is in his twighlight days, but I cant see him passing up on an oppertunity to grab an extra slice of your holiday wedge.

Hope E ride night feature this summer if only for those reduced wait times. As for the food, dont really care. :drevil:

Who else thinks that a "Mongolian BBQ" sit down restaurant would do extremely well in either the magic kingdom or Animal Kingdom?

Just my random thought for the day:)

Noodles would be a nice change. When we go in July, the LAST thing I want to eat is a slab of meat and some fried potatoes in 100 degrees weather - yuck!!

Now December is another story at good ole Cosmic Rays :slurp:

We usually go in June, so sitting outside and eating is not high on my list, we usually go to Cosmic Rays. I just like to get out of the heat/rain for a half hour or so. I would try the Noodle Pavilion but maybe it would have to be in the evening, maybe during the extra magic hour. We did our first E-ride night last June and it was great, we even ran into Mickey on the way out and got a pic with the whole family. I hope that the new Extra magic hours will be as special as E-Ride nights.

I think this is a good change. More variety is a good thing. They can always change the concept again if it doesn't work out. Yay for progress! :)

Seems to me that the E Ride Nights have only been running during the summer. Maybe the Extra Magic Hours will run during the slower times? I don't think Disney would give up a money maker.

As far as the Asian Noodle Restaurant idea...I don't think its a bad idea at all, who can argue with more variety. I've never eaten in the Plaza Restaurant so I can't comment on their fare, but I'd be willing to try either version. As far as it not fitting in take a look around at the food being offered in some of the other spots... they don't really fit in either. I just think they are trying to give the people what they want as far a more variety in choice.

If it doesn't work out I'm sure they would change it yet again.

I think it's a good thing, at first glance. Time will tell, as always, whether or not it is a good change. Not sure about the theming (kind of like selling Nemo plush toys at Bwana Bob's....), but I'm going to remain hopeful until I see it for myself in May (I hope!).

From what I remember, it's pretty much the same pizza you can get anywhere else (I know, shocking! ). I'd rather get pizza at my resort, at least then it's nearly fresh. I do like their pizza, it has this little uniqueness to it that I can't quite put my finger on, but it's yummy.

The name of the restaurant was Adventureland Veranda. They served Sweet and Sour Hot Dog, Shrimp Fried Rice, Egg Roll and a Teriyaki Burger. It closed in
1993 but reopened for a short time in 1998 with the usual MK hamburger/hot dog menu. You can go to Widen Your World to see pictures and more info!!
