Please to remember the 27th of September
When Disney dissatisfied Guests a lot.
I see no reason why Disney's Pleasure Island treason
Should ever be forgot...

Five years ago Disney made a great mistake. While many still do not think that we shall ever see our beloved Club again, there are still many who will not give up hope. The Club still stands and still remains in the concept art of the Downtown Disney refurb, so only time shall tell. In the meantime Adventurers, tonight there shall be a grand gathering of Adventurers and a full compliment of permanent members enjoying a show entitled "Adventures in Charity".

Kungaloosh Adventurers,

This post has been a long time coming, but this Thanksgiving, I am thankful for the combined efforts of the ConGaloosh Society and the newly formed Adventurers In Charity organization for their continued success in keeping Merriweather Adam Pleasure’s Adventurers Club alive! This year’s event was certainly one for the books!

It all started on the evening of Thursday, Sept. 26th with an evening at Dixie Landing’s River Roost Lounge to enjoy fresh Kungaloosh’s and Yeehaw Bob's all night Hoopla! Many a Club favorite was played, including “Those Were The Days”, “That’s Amore”, “The Beer Song”, and of course “When the Saints Go Marching In”!

Friday, Sept. 27th we were treated at Disney’s Art of Animation resort, to a very informative lecture from Senior Costume Designer, Matt Davidson

about some of the work and design that went into our beloved Club! Not only were we shown his amazing concept art of our favorite characters,

but also learned about alternate designs, such as Fletcher Hodges in the infamous grass skirt and Pamelia (Boom Boom) Perkins and her pet detonating plunger, for when she was a demolitions expert!

As well as characters that were being proposed to be added to the club just before the closing announcements such as, Sheba, an out of work Hollywood actress having a fling with Dave the Sound Guy and a Sea Captain who's story of how he lost a hand changes with each telling!

The night then continued on to Sleuth's on International Dr. for MomGaloosh, a night of comedy with some of our favorite Club actors.

Then, Saturday, Sept. 28th we gathered at Animal Kingdom. Due to scheduling conflicts, The Anandapur Challenge once again had to be postponed, but we enjoyed the new Wilderness Explorers attraction,

while we waited with baited breath for the evening’s premier performance of Adventures In Charity. The Holiday Inn on 535 may never recover from that amount of pure Adventure that took place that night! We were greeted by tables of artifacts and treasures up for silent auction, as well as original pieces of art all in honor of 5189 Hill St. and it’s Permanent Members! The show began with the entrance of the evenings performers: Karl Anthony, Joy Anderson Bowes, Phil Card, John Connon, Mindy Walley Dietterick, Glenn Gover, Philip Nolen, Eric Pinder, Joe Reed, Sheila Smith Ward and Jennifer Warren in a rousing return of “The Happy Wanderer”.

All this madness was lead by the Emcee of the evening Graham Murphy

and due to contractual restrictions, Fingers Zambezi was unable to be our paranormal prodigy of the keys, so in his place we had his distant relation, Knuckles stood in and possessed the body of Jim Roberts as accompanist.

The night continued with each actor informing us of the good works that their charity of choice and then performed their favorite Club song! We were treated to such classics as, “Sushi-Yucky”, “Stuff Like That There”, “Sheik of Araby” “Mutual Admiration Society” and three new tales of heroism in this years “B Cup”! At the evenings end, a certain Mr. Pleasure appeared

after years of presumably being lost at sea to announce the winners of the silent auction and to inform us that we Adventurers In Charity had raised $9000 to be distributed to The Actors Fund, APOPA, The American Cancer Society, The American Diabetes Association, A Better Life Pet Rescue, The Dravet Foundation, The Garden Theatre, Harvest Time International, Haven of Hope AIDS Ministry!

Sunday, Sept 29th the weekend of adventure wound down as we wandered World Showcase in search of Food, Wine and Club actors performing in their current Disney roles.

Now, we can all hardly wait until next September when the most adventurous time of year returns! Thank you once again to the organizers of ConGaloosh and Adventures in Charity for a superb job this year and as always reminding us that “An Adventurers Life is Best”!

P.S. Due to my camera being in the shop this year, thank you so much to members of the ConGaloosh Facebook group, Jennifer Figler, Adrian Plaw and John Majors for their excellent photography!

Kungaloosh Adventurers,
As is my tradition on this day each year, I give to you one of the most secret, and often overlooked Club tradition that occurred only at Midnight of Christmas Eve 1937, the annual Adventurers retelling of "T'was the Night Before Christmas". For full effect, press play at the stroke of midnight tonight, accompanied by your favorite Yuletide beverage: eggnog, wassail, Yakoose Mousse, or a Kungaloosh.

AC - The ULTIMATE beating of dead horses subject, Yes I loved it, I KNOW it's not coming back EVER wth today's TWDC.

I don't know why Disney is bringing a show about CLOSED attractiions, Unless it's to MOCK the fanboi's who will be all over this like white on rice and will pay the 1K tariff to go to the show.

Meanwhile Georgie K will be ROTFLHAO about the Lifestylers spending a grand on closed attractions.

Adventures in Charity will be doing another tribute show at the end of September--over a dozen former Club performers have already committed. Plus various special guests, like Kirk and Jungle George last year. For a fraction of the price of seeing a thrown together psuedo-museum. Plus all proceeds go to the actors' chosen charities, not TWDC corporate coffers.

It's your money, but if you enjoyed the Club, would you rather spend it drinking and watching a 3-hour comedy show surrounded by old friends and fellow fans, or staring at a couple old props?

ETA: Saturday, Sept. 27, looked it up.

Will do. Date set, same venue (the Holiday Inn on 535), but things like admission still being hashed out. I can all but guarantee the most expensive seat will be half the price of the D23 event, with plenty of more affordable options.

The dedication is admirable and worthy of respect, however I think this thread is an example of how "make sure you flood the Disney execs mailboxes with letter, emails etc..." really never works...
