Save the Adventurers Club

The dedication is admirable and worthy of respect, however I think this thread is an example of how "make sure you flood the Disney execs mailboxes with letter, emails etc..." really never works...
This and the soccer mommy revolt about Flynn are the closest you'll see

My favorite part of Star Wars weekends was seeing some old Adventurers at the Hyperspace Hoopla. Now that it's also gone, is there any word on whether Snig and Oopla will still be around this year?

I actually never got to experience the club, but it just never made sense to me why Disney would close that. Considering what they try and push now, it just seems like something they could make a buck off of. I mean, I get them closing the clubs (to an extent), but why couldn't they have just kept that? It wasn't exactly "just another bar" and Disney loves their themed restaurants. I don't know, seems like it was all just very hastily decided.

Tend to doubt it, although I suspect at least one of them (as well as several more former Adventurers) will be at the Adventures in Charity event this September. Complications with the website arose and ensued, but it should be up soon.

BTW, feel free to spread the above link to anyone who liked the Club or just would appreciate a night of comedy in Orlando. The more people, the more fun the party, and the more money for charity. We'd love to sell out so we can go to a bigger venue next year.

The Adventures in Charity 2014 website is live: http://www.adventuresincharity.org/

The event will be Saturday, September 27, at the Holiday Inn LBV. Tickets start at just $25, with all proceeds going to charities chosen by the actors. Should be a great show, with a couple new fan-favorite actors joining the cast this year.

Amazing lineup of talent. We'll be in Bradenton that weekend, but might be able to come up for the show. Thanks for the info!

Don't want to raise false hopes but an Imagineer working on Disney Springs gave a presentation on board the Fantasy recently in the Buena Vista Theater. He gave an in depth presentation as far as he was allowed to go. He would not give details of specific tenants on board or being solicited but the overall presentation of the plan was interesting. During Q & A at the end he was asked about a re-opening of the Club. He would not confirm but said with a smile something like "Keep a close watch on the location of the Club."

Was able to visit Trader Sam's out in DLR a few weeks ago and it was great to see some of the props. At least some parts still live on...

It was hastily decided. Disney thought (mistakenly, especially with a looming real estate bust coming that the rest of the world knew about already) that it would be much more profitable to be landlords rather than settle for the meager profits they were netting from operating PI and the clubs. However the dunce in charge of this decision in their rush to shutter everything failed to actually line up paying tennants. Then they didn't want to back track. Disgusting this was ever allowed to happen.

I remain hopeful it will return, but really, we should have gotten it back years ago.

Adventures in Charity update ... through midnight Friday, Bronze tickets are only $18 while Silver tickets are only $50. (The discounted price will reflect in the PayPal transaction.) And remember, AiC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, so part of your donation may be tax-deductible.

Also on the website you can see the AdvClub actors who have committed so far, although I understand even more are still in negotiations.

I see this pic and it makes me so sad:(. So many great memories here, and all of PI for that matter. Then I start thinking about all the other great memories that have been torn down with promises of greater things that never came to be. DTD is just another mall, stuff I can buy at home. The parks are, well a mess- there's nothing to keep (us) coming back time after time like we used to. The hotels are horrendously overpriced, the food is the same all over property, I so miss the WDW of the 90's:cry:

And they still have packed parks. Where is their motivation to do any better?

I have something i have been meaning to share here for some time, and finally had the chance to do so today.
I was recently going through some old Disney Magazines of yore, and came across this swell article about the Club placed in the Fall 2004 issue.

Thought immediately of all of you here in this massive thread....so here it is for your enjoyment.
