Well...neither does your post.

There was a persistent rumor, heard from a couple CMs, that the initial plan was to drop the "Pleasure Island" name. However, the remaining tenants, particularly Raglan but also Fuego and Curl, had spent a lot of money marketing themselves as part of PI. The fear was dropping the name would have been a material change in the lease (my lawyer term, not theirs) giving them an out to leave...which I hear was very much on Raglan's mind. (Notice they cut hours from 2:00 am to 11:00 pm most nights--for a bar, that had to kill their profits.)
Plus, it costs money to change signs. TDO don't seem to like spending money when they can avoid it.
when they closed the clubs, they were very adamant that "Pleasure Island is not closing, only the clubs are" because of other businesses that reside on PI, they didn't wasnt ppl thinking those were also closing. That's why they have left the name in use and didn't immediately get rid of all references.

I was there on the night before the last night the clubs were open and you are correct. My clearest recollection from that night was the Pleasure Island DJ saying over the loudspeaker time after time "Pleasure Island is not closing."
That explanation makes sense as to why they were so adamant.
To me that is only symantics. Seriously. But it is interesting about the surviving vendors. Ragalan especially. To cut hours like that is not a good sign. Not sure how long their lease was but wouldnt be surprised if something isnt done with PI that Ragalan closes. I think that these legal issues explain atleast part of why the PI name is still used. I just wonder if Ragalan had knew that the clubs were going to close would they have opened in the first place?
That leads me to wonder what agreement and wording the other vendors have in their leases with TDO? This is all very interesting....the plot thickens!

With the loss of the club building four years ago, the House of Wong graciously opened its back room to the permanent members of the club - and even offered gainful employment to Hathaway Browne, allowing him to push the dim sum cart until he refused to stop informing patrons that his Chinese name was "Mister Hung."
However, since the last Radiothon four years ago, egg roll sales have plummeted and the restaurant desperately needs customers. In an effort to draw business, it has decided to open its doors for one night only to honorary club members as well!

but I forget TDO hires plants who don't know the first thing about the company's history.
Look, we need the AC back. I don't care where they put it, but it needs to come back. This well all know. However...
We may never see it again, but we all know it was something magical. If we never have another round of Kungalooshes at the park, well, we need to remember that the AC's memory lives on and will not be forgotten.
Just try to stay positive that Disney will come to it's senses and give us back our club. That's all we can do right now, aside from petitions and comment cards to CMs at the parks, the only thing we can do is hope.
KUNGALOOSH!!
I was looking at SFRT in AL at the MK (holy acronym!)
and it's footprint is roughly the same size as a Yak n Yeti type establishment.
I would not be sad if they leveled the treehouse in favor of the AC in MK. Granted we would lose an attraction at MK, but I think the addition of a revenue stream, and a fun interactive sit-down eatery (more upscale than the burrito palace by POTC) would be welcome on that side of the park...
This was floating around Facebook - sad
Why demolish an attraction when you already have an empty restaurant at the front of Adventureland?
