There is only two restaurants I can think of that would fit this bill...Tortuga Tavern which is an open air counter service location. TT stays pretty busy because of it's price point. And Crystal Palace, which is located outside of AL and would not fit the theme, not to mention it does well for brunch...although if they did move the entrance to a "secret" entrance in the back and found a way to redo the front fascia to transition well I think that could be a possibility.

This was floating around Facebook - sad :(

What is the discoloration on the walls? You can see where all the artifacts were hanging on the walls. Smoking wasn't allowed, so I'm confused.

Could they have possibly painted around them to conserve paint? Unless its some kind of natural weathering I don't know what isle it could be.

At some point they probably painted around them. I am sure they were mounted to the wall. Also, smoke wouldnt always be the culprit in the "staining". Air pollution itself can have the same result. But I dont think to this extent. I think it was just painted around the objects. The sight of this is just so sad.

"‘Ah! That’s why I love Walt Disney.’ It cost $100,000 to build a spire you didn’t need! That’s the secret of Disney, is doing things you don’t need and doing them well, and then you realize you needed ‘em all along.”’ -Ray Bradbury

I should have specified--Disney no longer spends money to support SHOW when it doesn't have to. Thought that was inherent in the subtext, but I forget TDO hires plants who don't know the first thing about the company's history.

I would agree with you that they don't support show when they don't have to. Actually never have since Disneyland opened. From the very first days Roy had to constantly pull back the reins to keep the company profitable. That's the way businesses operate.

Do I think they should spend more. As a fan yep i do. But the company has evolved way past being a family business. Like most family businesses it was part of the Disney's life and there was a lot of personal emotional involvement in it. But it is now just a major US corporation that is operating on business ethics and motivations. We'll never see the personal involvement in the same away again.

To expect the Disney Corporation to operate any differently than other major corporations isn't realistic. I wish it wasn't that way but that is the way it will be whether we like it or not. The AC and PI are examples of corporate think and yes I side with those who would like those returned. But gratuitous shots at TDO won't do that. With the people I know in other companies, gratuitous criticism simply hardens their resolve to not do what people are complaining about.

The best way to get decisions reversed is to make good business points, that they'll listen to and try to avoid statements that say they are completely incompetent. Great way to make it not happen.

And, if you were implying I am a Disney plant that was uncalled for. For the record, I have never had anything to do with Disney and never would act as a plant for anyone. I am simply a fan like everyone else.

...so lets stop haven't a dang vacant building...
NOW!

The only part of your post that is correct. Because there is no wrecking ball on the horizon, so yes let's stop having an empty building and fill it once again with humorous artifacts, fun loving Adventurers, tasty adult bevarages and good times!

NOW!

I stopped coming to the board, years ago and this thread or one like it existed back then.

I think 95% of the people do no know what the Adventurers Club was.
I think 99% do not care it is gone.

If I remember correctly years ago there was news, "People got Drunk", started fights on Disney property. The Pleasure Island experiment failed, "Adults" can not control themselves.

If the building and other building are there may as well use the building or land for something else.

people getting drunk and/or starting fights on Disney property has not changed as a result of PI closing, nor was it a problem because of PI. Fights break out at bus stops, people DATW, a restaurant got robbed at gunpoint at DTD, cars broken into, teens still hang out near AMC, none of this has changed.

The tired old excuse of it being closed due to guest behavior is coming from the glass of kool aid the company has been pouring since the announcement of closure. The real reason is they are greedy, felt they could make more money than they were already making, management was short sighted with no actual plan in place to replace the clubs, and now we have what's left. Bad timing + worse mangement = the bold new vision of seed and mulch
