Just returned home from a weekend at WDW. The parking lots for Downtown Disney were so full at 7:15 pm on Saturday that we had to park down at Cirque du Soleil just to find an empty space. When we left at 11 pm, the parking lots were still full and several rows had filled up even beyond where we had parked. While we were there, the money was just flying out of my pockets from House of Blues to Baby Cakes to World of Disney to Ghiradelli. Thankfully we escaped before I had to hitchhike home!

So, that apology is probably not coming anytime soon - October is the "slow period" of the year, right?

But speaking of the Adventurer's Club, its distinctive architecture was missing. Since I am not there every month or even every year, it is possible I overlooked it, especially since I was there after sundown. But has something happened that went unreported in this thread?

Pay no attention to the empty buildings behind the fake shrubbery

Funny...we were there Sunday night and Tuesday afternoon, and in both cases were able to park in Lot 1 with no problems.

Of course, Sunday was late, after EPCOT closed, so that may have had something to do with it.

I can usually find a spot in lot 1 if I'm willing to be patient and kill my gas tank idling around the lot for a bit, otherwise I usually park in front of the AMC or the lot by TRex if I want to find a spot in less than 5 minutes, and settle for something way at the back unless I get lucky.

How much money was being spent at PI?

Actually, over at the "Save the Adventurers Club" Facebook page, it is reported that the Club is sporting a new paint job. What were once pink walls, that blended with the domino tiles, has become beige. Hopefully this is just a primer for a fresh pink paint job!

Also, about a week ago, a friend of mine sent me an image of maintenance on the roof, working on the AC's AC! Hopefully good news will be in the near future!

You don't paint and repair the air conditioning unit on a building you are planning to tear down. This seems to indicate they are planning to use this building going forward. The question is now only whether it is being re-purposed or re-opened in something of its original form.

For the most part you would be correct. However, if this buildings fate is still undecided, Disney would still need to do basic maintenance on the building until a decision is made. More than anything I think this is indication that Disney still has no idea what they will be doing with these old buildings.

AC is still closed. I'll check in a couple days just to make sure.

Just follow them on Twitter on their new account

I'm sure that they'll be tweeting exciting news on PI any day now...

Or, like DTD, the original content on the twitter account will be abandoned without word in a few months and taken over by 3rd party tweeters, pimping buy-one-get-one flan at Pollo Campero.

Point taken, and I get the paint as "upkeep till they make a decision", but do you really need to have air conditioning to preserve a building? Does climate control keep mold and mildew at bay? Seems like a few months without air conditioning shouldn't hurt much if that is the reasoning. A few years without might be an issue...of course its already been closed for years......but I do realize I may be splitting hairs....

Yes. Climate control, or more to the point humidity control is crucial. As you may or may not know A/C drastically reduces the humidity in a building. Turn the A/C off for even a few weeks in the summer and a building will smell like cave, much longer and mold can become an issue.

Yes, but one of the many great charms if the Adventurers Club was it's amazing musty smell of old artifacts!

Electricians have been seen again going in and out of Mannequins.
Something is happening there too!
I was told an electrical company has been contracted to fix up the electrical work inside MDP. I was hoping someone would indicate they saw something to confirm it. So while there is no new info about AC, MDP is definitely getting activity. I also know the big garage door was left unlocked one day and security had to call to get it locked again(drat!).

Guys you have to understand that Downtown orlando was really mad a Disney for taking all Locals away from dt orlandos club and restaurant scene. Now that pleasure island has been closed for 4 years things are looking good because there is nothing for locals to do anymore in PI. Must have made DT orlando really happy knowing they closed and would be able to start to grow again and have businesses make some money.

Kungaloosh Adventurers,

Well, it seems our beloved Club and our Adventurers are still alive and well, for the right price. Check out time signature 5:06 in this video! http://www.disneysignaturedreams.com/ That's right, Emil Bleehall is still telling tales about his pigeon corp! Also with the new promotion of “Limited Time Magic,” "featuring unexpected experiences with an extra sprinkle of Pixie Dust at Disneyland and the Walt Disney World Resort that’ll appear, and then disappear when the next debuts", it is the perfect time to reintroduce the Adventurers Club to the world! Go to http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/bl...kicks-off-limited-time-magic-at-disney-parks/ and let Disney know we want a limited engagement of the Adventurers Club to become Full Time Magic!
