Are any of the former actors still around the parks? I've seen videos of Blondie in the World Showcase players, but don't know if he or anyone else is still at it.

We can use their real names now - LOL - Please correct me if any of these are wrong/have changed.

Karl, Glenn, & Phil C are all at World Showcase Players @ EPCOT. Glenn is also "Mack" - Captain Jack Sparrow's sidekick at Pirate Tutorial.

Mindy is at Hoop Dee Doo

Tim & Angela are at DHS.

Andrea is at Hoop De Doo as well; I think Karl might still fill in there occasionally.

A couple of the less famous Samanthas (I don't even know that they had nicknames) are in the Ziti Sisters in EPCOT.

Eric pushes Remy on a cart around Chefs de France.

AFAIK, Simon is still a judge at American Idol. Much like the TV show, I kind of forget the attraction is still around.

Not in the parks, but a lot of the actors will be popping up in this month's Fringe Festival downtown. In fact, former "Fingers Zambeezi" John DeHaas has written one of the this year's most anticipated shows ("Theme Park Diva").

I actually agree - I could see DAK being a good fit, theming wise. And of course they could have alcohol drinks there too. The hours would be a huge issue though - I would LOVE it if Animal Kingdom/Lodge/Village would have more of the night-time activity. Often when my husband & I get to escape to the parks or resorts it's later in the evening which cuts significantly into our Animal Kingdom enjoyment.

When I expressed my doubts about AC working well at AK, I completely forgot about the upcoming "Avatar" addition. That would extend park hours and attendance I imagine. I therefore do agree that it might make a viable option. My first preference though continues to be re-opening in the original location, albeit with extra revenue options such as a themed restaurant and large quirky gift shop.

Just speculating but you have to figure stores and restaurants at PI leased their spaces thinking they were in a nightlife district that drew crowds until at least 2am. For over 3 years now these crowds have pretty much evaporated after 10PM - 11PM. That's about 3-4 hours of significantly decreased revenues.

Thus, you have to figure leases got renegotiated. Raglan Road may have been the least impacted but even they don't have many there as it gets later. Ditto Paradiso. That poor Sosa Cigar bar got their entire rear patio walled over. And Harley Davidson was given a sweet new corner location on the West Side.

I feel bad for the people behind Raglan Road, they obviously had wanted to be a major nightlife player, with the multiple bars they built- and now they close at 11 every night. Sad.
Did they even try to fence with the monolith that is the Disney Legal Team, for some recompense, I wonder?

Look, we need the AC back. I don't care where they put it, but it needs to come back. This well all know. However...

We may never see it again, but we all know it was something magical. If we never have another round of Kungalooshes at the park, well, we need to remember that the AC's memory lives on and will not be forgotten.

Just try to stay positive that Disney will come to it's senses and give us back our club. That's all we can do right now, aside from petitions and comment cards to CMs at the parks, the only thing we can do is hope.

KUNGALOOSH!!

Petitions and comment cards don't mean a thing to the decision makers- not compared to the wallet anyway.

Spending your money at those venues that actually are interested in giving adults interesting and immersive entertainment, and withholding your money from those that destroy such things in favor of t-shirt shops, kitsch and empty buildings- THAT would speak louder than any comment card.
That's what I am doing.

So everyone else who uses anecdotal evidence is wrong--but your anecdotal evidence must be right?

Actually, then DTD-VP Kevin Lansberry went on record in the Sentinel admitting the Club was profitable int he days before it closed.

To say nothing of the fact that some of us were/are friends with managers, bartenders, servers, actors, door hosts, security guards, and just about every other type of CM who worked PI and they all give roughly consistent accounts. Some of them might even have shared numbers back when the clubs were open.

See, this type of response (and after several pages of it being done), is why other posters here get their undies in a bunch about this thread. There's always someone that takes another opinion defensively, instead of objectively.

It's one thing to present anecdotal evidence and accept it as such. It's another to take it as concrete eveidence, which seems to be the issue at hand in here. I think the evidence that AC is not coming back (anecdotal or not) is much stronger than anything else presented so far. How many places that have been closed for three plus years have you seen re-open???

Like I said, I understand the attachment to the place for some members here, as I have soft spots for many attractions that are long gone, as well. But, you do have to come to the realization that change is inevitable (especially at Disney), and as awesome as something was for you personally, it may not have fit in to the grand money making scheme that the parks/DTD are there for.

I too, have friends and acquaintances that work at WDW. One that's done rather well for himself, and is closely connected to DTD. I don't claim to be an insider, because I'm not, nor do I care to be. But I can get enough tidbits here and there, to know when my "anecdotal" evidence is more likely correct.

Either way, I'm rather enjoying the spin on where to put AC, if it were re-invented.

Maybe some can, and maybe that might even happen- but that won't be an AC that I would be happy with. When the AC was open, I had nothing but derision for those who brought very young kids there after 11pm. If you can't go to an nightclub without your kids, then don't go!
For that reason, I'm not thrilled with the idea of bringing AC to DAK or Epcot or any theme park. I'm not saying I wouldn't go, but I wouldn't be happy.
I suppose anything can eventually be endured, however. That's how I deal with The Seas with Nemo.

There have been rumors of a new resort as part of the Avatar expansion so this could be the perfect place for an AC type venue. Avatar is afterall a bit about adventures. Sort of an Adventuers theme set in the future.

Oh, and the demo rumors for PI are percolating again. Don't blame me.

Actually I'd bet the buildings are fairly close to the same size. Just saying.

Nowhere near it. ADH is huge--deceptively so, it doesn't look as big as you walk up to it, but you could probably fit three AdvClubs in there (especially if you used the New Years Eve only upstairs space). If you put 275 guests in there--if memory serves, the capacity of the AC--it would still feel kind of empty.

Two other issues. First, transportation. BW is a pain to get to for on-site guests and drivers alike. One of the reasons ADH is usually underpopulated. Second, the AC always depended on walk-in guests--you can't rely on the 50, maybe 100 people who will specifically go the Club planning on spending an evening there. You need a number of passers-by who will just wander in.

I think it's been under contract to be a night club for many years, so you're idea can't happen.

I think King Bob (of the Save PI blog) mentioned that contract being up soon, this year or 2013. Which probably means ADH will be turned into the next Odyssey or Wonders of Life.

Demo is definately coming shortly.. but it's not AC.. not yet anyway... so don't freak out.. this isn't meant to tick anyone off.. just saying..

And, as far as re-using the AC building (or the others for that matter) there are certain issues regarding that which make it a bit expensive to do so for the tenants/build out..
