The Poll in General Discussions "Should TDO re-open the adventurers club" now has 84% voting in favor of re-opening in some form or other. But I notice that Rowdy and WDW71fan have not voted. Why is that? Gentleman, please get together all your like minded friends and cast your "no" vote in the poll. Judging from your rhetoric, once you and your friends do cast that vote, surely those of us in favor of re-opening will be in the minority. Cast your vote and prove you are right.

There is nothing scientific about the poll you created as this site is made up of Disney fanatics. You would get the same numbers or better if you asked people here if they wanted to see Communicore reopened. Or WoL, WoM, original Imagination, 20K, the MK Skyway, Keel Boats, Swan Boats, Mission to the Moon, Mission to Mars, Alien Encounter, If You Had Wings, 360 by Monsanto, Mickeys whatever Revue, the Canoes, Diamond Horeshoe Revue, Food Rocks, the original Land film, Hydrolators, swimming at Fort Wilderness, The Walt Disney Story, Main Street Cinema, original Energy, original aesthetics of the Marketplace, original Empress Lily, Fort Wilderness Railroad, Discovery Island, skeet shooting, original Back Lot Tour, Superstar Television, original 360 films in China and Norway, original Mexico dark ride. and soon people will be saying the original Safari script. Oh and Horizons.

Point is your poll means little. Too often people are driven by sentiment rather than rationality.

WDW is a resort with theme parks. Nothing about it shouts "museum".

That said, my vote is, "don't care". Suprisingly that is not an option. I just want to see something done. Open it or tear it down. But make a decision already.

it's interesting that you complain about the demolition topic and accuse me of diverting the thread with it..

because I DIDN'T BRING IT UP, I simply replied... additionally, one of the staunchest people in the thread that was attacking me was a WILLING PARTICIPANT IN THE CONVERSATION..

Again, you are blaming me for something I didn't start.. and if you think demolition is not happening at some point.. you need to look at the picture that was posted a few pages back.

Obviously you are directing this at someone other than me as I have not been involved in this conversation. Kindly quote those you are addressing so there is no confusion to the readers of this forum or the mods. Thank you.

I appreciate what you are saying and agree, I really do. And since you are neutral regarding the fate of the club, then I encourage you and others that are like minded to not vote in the poll. The amount of Apathy on this forum regarding this question is not what I want to ascertain.

I simply want to know the ratio of "true believers" to detractors on this board. The detractors seemed to be making the point that their opinion was the majority here, and I wanted to see what the truth is in that regard. The truth seems to be (as shown by this poll) they are outnumbered on this board by four to one.

And thats fine.. Considering the issue, I wouldn't expect that the balance would be any different..

However, in an intelligent, adult conversation.. Both pools of thought are valid and acceptable within discussion..

The problem with the way you have been carrying yourself in this thread is your disregard for the feelings and values of those that are here to "save the adventurer's club". The discussion about tearing down the club for instance was a bit like walking into an animal rescue convention and having a loud conversation about the most efficient way to gas animals. To say the least it would anger the crowd. What you did here was almost as disrespectful of the emotions and feelings of most that come here. By all mean give your reasons for opposing our effort to get TDO to reinstate the club, but respect the fact that we are emotionally attached to that effort. In return I think most will respect your right to voice your opinion.

hasn't happened yet.. and again, I was 'harsh' when my opposing viewpoint was 'attacked'.. debating is fine.. but some people seem to no be able to 'agree to disagree' on points..

I can handle that people pine for the AC (also horizons, WoL, and more) to reopen.. doesn't 'bother' me.. why should my wish for something new 'bother' them?

Ultimately my original point was that since the building has been prepped for demolition and the club obviously isn't returning, I'd rather them get the demolition done ASAP and start building whatever 'new' comes up... Thats it! no one needs to have sour feelings towards me.. I just want to see progress, thats all! All we have right now is a stripped building with nothing for enjoyment within it's walls.. Same goes for 8 Trax, soundstage, etc..

at this point, it's beating a dead horse.. I get it, you don't like my opinion, etc... but thats not going to change my opinion, and I can post it if I wish to.

No, I don't think you do get it. The reaction you got was not because of our disdain for your opinion. It was due to your disregard of our feelings on this subject. I think at first you just didn't really think about how your posts would effect the emotions of those who would read it. When you got attacked for that, it became retribution for those attacks.

The issue is that you need to respect the feelings of those who do not agree with you. If you do, I promise, at least for myself, to consider any well thought out point you wish to make. I am sure as well others would follow.

I'll even back that. I have no issue with 71 as a person. Not at all. Taking others feelings into consideration when posting is all that anyone asks. If someone thinks wholeheartedly that it should be bulldozed and something else should be in its place then try saying it with tact instead of getting inflammatory about it from the start. Every opinion is just that, an opinion. Even those that want the club back.

Yet another point of this post that is opinion over "stone cold fact". Since demolition is not occurring, I would say that the walls have been stripped to prepare for a fresh paint job before reinstalling the artifacts.

Therein lies the issue that many of us have with this thread. No matter what is presented, albeit fact, conjecture, or opinion, it's treated as though it's does not exist, or that it's completely inaccurate.

No, there is not factual evidence that AC is going to be torn down. There is plenty of substansive evidence that it is/was being prepped to be demolished. I don't think anyone outside the group of five or six of the regular posters in this thread will take anything as fact, until the building itself is gone. Which is both admirable in their love for the AC, but a little frightening in that they can't see the bigger picture, and the likelihood of the permanent demise of it.

To sit back and say that walls are obviously being restripped for painting and replacement of artifacts, is borderline delusional. And I'm not trying to start a fight here, but that's one perverted way of looking at it. Especially since we know for a fact that many of the artifacts have been moved and re-used elsewhere on the properties.

Is there a a group of AC hardcore fans? Yes. It's been well documented that the smallest groups on the internet, can make the most noise and make it seem like their following is much larger (see Ron Paul supporters). I think this is a good example of that.

For the group here, I hope AC comes back, as it obviously holds a dear place in your hearts. I too would love to see Horizons make a return, but I know that will never happen. I just think you're all holding out hope for something that just is not in the cards.

I suspect you are right about the return of the AC not being in the cards, but I respect Don Quixote if you know what I mean. As for the comparison with a Horizons return, I feel that isn't a fair comparison. The time and money required to re-boot the AC is a drop in the bucket in comparison to the investment that would be necessary to re-boot Horizons. Furthermore there is a direct revenue stream that would be generated by the AC while Horizons would have to be justified only by a measured increase in gate traffic.

Yes
By looking at the picture posted a few pages back, I would say the artifacts were taken down to be refurbished.. At least now they will now exactly where each one needs to be put back when the club reopens.. :)

Yes, still holding on to the slight glimmer of hope, however slight it may be.. :(

Most of the artifacts have been shipped off to other Disney locations. There are a lot of items in D Street on the Westside. Most of them are either there or at Disneyland.

Yeah... It really sucks what they have done!! Last night I showed my wife the picture you posted and she was just as digusted as most everyone else here.. We had some of the best times at the club. On a typical 8 night stay, we were at the club at least part of 4 of them. Have many, many videos, and even more memories.

Just trying to stay true to the spirit of this thread. :)
