There are some things I haven't heard being addressed yet:
1) What was this war's main goal: finding the weapons or getting Saddam?
2) Is Bush declaring the war over again and sending everybody home this time?
And I found very interesting how different Bush's and Blair's reactions to all this were: Bush was all smug, like he was expecting this all along, while Blair was really relieved that they finally got him. I suppose he must be still very nervous, though, since the British press is handling this from another point of view than the American press. In the US, everyone is very happy, awaiting the trials and it's said that Bush's popularity has been on the rise again; in England, they've been saying "ok, but where are the weapons you said were there in the first place and were the reason for all this trouble?" They haven't forgotten about that and the US press has put it behind them.
The rest of the world, it seems, have been foloowing it with a clynical eye for the first time, relating how it's happening. At least, that's what they've been doing down here. I guess the majority is waiting to see what will be said when the trials start.
I don't think he should die, though, cause he'll become a martyr. He should be arrested for life to serve as an example. And he should be arrested in Iraq, since there's where he commited his crimes. His people should be the ones to punish him since they were the ones who suffered with his crimes.

2) Probably not, even if he does declare the war over. If you look at history, our troops tend to stick around for some time. I know my grandpa was stationed in Japan and Korea for years after the ends of both of those wars. And though a lot of us forget about them, our guys are still stationed in areas we thought we were done with a long time ago.

Am I the only one totally surprised that he let himself be captured alive? I had always assumed that suicide would be preferable to capture to guys like him. But anyway...
Job well done to our troops. An entire people is free from the dictatorship of a murderous psychopath. Here's hoping our troops come home soon, and that the Iraqi people are able to begin to live peacefully.

I read that Saddam was questionned about the weapons and he said he didn´t have them, that it was all something that Bush made up and that he didn´t let the UN search because that was his private property blablablabla....
I also wonder the same as you and hope that those poor guys serving in Iraq are returned home and others stop going there. One guy and one girl I know are scheduled to leave in January and I am sad for them and their loved ones.
If I had been Saddam, I would have killed myself right there... :lookaroun
Now, where is Osama?? That´s the one I really want to see gone.

U.S. forces are trying the best they can to find Osama. . . they haven't found him. We did find Saddam, however.
(Who knows. I heard one theory that if the government released the news that it killed Osama, there would be instant terrorist attacks by "every terrorist" based on Al Queda rules.)
