Finally received my refund. After reaching out to Regions Bank twice and them insisting that any refunds posted to a closed account are automatically sent back to the requestor, and having a poor runDisney CM trying to track the money down on their end, a Regions cashiers check just arrived in the mail. 🤦‍♀️

Thus further proving why I closed the account in the first place, lol! 😂 But at least I finally have the funds back - just in time for WDW Marathon Weekend registration next week!

Garmin has Vader and Rey smart watches. Someone talk me out of buying one.

When typically can we expect runDisney to open up registration for the Star Wars virtual half marathon? Thinking about signing up for next year’s race. Is it alongside the actual event registration?

Probably won’t be able to run a half marathon all the way though. I can try, but it’s going to be tough. Maybe if I split it up I can definitely complete it. That’s allowed isn’t it?

EDIT: I’ll probably try and do it all the way though but that’s going to be tough. I’m such a huge Star Wars fan it’s probably worth it. It’s going to be hard to hit that pace though...I think doing it all the way though is reward enough. If I can make it.

Yes, registration for the Virtual race opens the same day as registration for the on-property races. You are allowed to run the miles all at once or split them up. Just as long as you run the miles between January 1st and March 31st. However, the runDisney website doesn't list a SW Virtual Half for 2021.

Interesting...I feel like now is the one time where they NEED a virtual component. Maybe it will get updated as we get closer?

I hope so. The virtual was added to appease all the runners upset when the Anaheim races got cancelled, negating the Kessel Run Challenge.

A virtual right now is a no brainier for runDisney. And to NOT have that one after 3 years?

It also makes no sense, not to have it business wise. What happens if they can’t even have the races next year...they have to do something for revenue. Virtual’s seem like a no-brainer.

It's more than a business decision. It is making runners happy by keeping a highly desirable Challenge. I was going to run the Light Side at DLR the year the Anaheim races were cancelled. runDisney made the announcement so late (already had hotel but no flight), I couldn't register for the 25th anniversary Marathon weekend (races were back to back weekends). People weren't happy as registration for Dark Side at WDW had already occurred.

I would like if they added more virtuals to even more races like the marathon weekend and princess races...I would definitely do them. I guess though it’s more “special” if they only do a certain amount? I take them seriously but not sure how many people do.

Sometimes runDisney doesn’t make sense at least to me...in terms of weird decisions.

Maybe since this year’s Virtual Half was originally part of the 5th race year and 2021 has been announced that it will be treated as the 5th year anniversary now, they decided not to outpace Star Wars race weekends with *technically* an extra virtual?

However, I hope they still do one for the coming year and have a feeling they will. The reasons for skipping it seem far outweighed by the advantages and reasons for including another virtual half next year.

Oh, the Twittersphere will explode if they drop the Virtual Half and correspondingly kill the Kessel Run. It's easy $$$ for runDisney.

We’re right at four weeks out from registration, if they don’t end up bothering to update the page and follow through with registration on time, that would get me very worried about the three races in between. Fingers crossed though, because I have hotel reservations for SW weekend already booked!

Speaking of old, un-updated pages, the runners guide is still on Princess Weekend 2020 (although I know we can’t expect that to change until a few weeks before the next race that actually goes forward, hopefully W&D!). https://guide.rundisney.events/
