Monorails are part of the inflated prices at the Magic Kingdom resorts as well as part of moving people from the Transportation and Ticket Center. Just because you keep saying it doesn't make it so.
I think there are some folks that need to back up and get off of the ledge for a second. They are not shuttering the monorails, such an iconic piece of WDW's history, unless the whole place goes with it. Everyone knows what the monorail is and where its famous for being located at. Next thing you'll tell me is that the castle is too much maintenance and they'll be shutting it down as well. Hey, the monorail is as big of an icon as Cinderella's Castle and if they close the monorail, they might as well close the whole place. If that goes, I won't be worrying about the monorail because it will mean something far worse is coming. Really! Can you imagine them announcing that they are shuttering the monorails?? Their stock would go in the tank because everyone would know that financially they were about to give up and close the doors. And, that would indeed close them.
And sadly for every fan who is sickened there will be two more who are excited about the new MAGICal bendy buses and partial filling in if the lagoon for closer in parking at $35 a dayIF they go away there will be a bloodless press release that states that during scheduled inspections cracks were found on all the monorail frames rendering them unsafe for further operation, Furthermore there is no capacity at Bombardier/Alweg to build a new set, Presser will also state that Disney Transportation officials are in 'talks' with Bombardier/Alweg to expedite construction of new monorail trainset.
The previous VP and Director of Transportation will be blamed for a poor maintenance regime, That being said Disney will state that the monorails will be shut down for at least 2-4 years until new trains can be secured. (which they will never do).
After which there will be a huge party at Celebration Place with TDO execs cheering about how they saved millions in Opex and put one over again on the rubes who visit WDW.
The new bus stop is located adjacent to the existing facilities. Then WHY was the articulated bus station built in front of the MK entrance about equidistant from where monorail station is now?. Why are monorail trainsets being allowed to deteriorate so fast. There is no current capacity at any of the world's builders of Monorail trains to build a new set.
If you examine all the facts and remove emotion from the picture they lead to the conclusion that the Monorails are indeed going away at WDW and relatively soon.
The new bus stop is located adjacent to the existing facilities.
Facilities all over Walt Disney World are being maintained to subpar levels.
Entirely new trains make no financial sense so I fail to see why builder capacity is evidence.

My over/under is 9 years on how long before the beamway removal begins after the last day of monorail operations.Just wait - "cracks" will be "discovered" on the monorail frames, Builder capacity is a cover story I've been around corporate america a very long time and this is how its done - how you make something beloved by customers 'go away' and still have a career afterward.

If that is true, I wonder if the interest in staying at monorail hotels will slack off?
They had two trains slam into each other and still rebuilt them.Just wait - "cracks" will be "discovered" on the monorail frames, Builder capacity is a cover story I've been around corporate america a very long time and this is how its done - how you make something beloved by customers 'go away' and still have a career afterward.

MyMagic+ was planned years ago. The commitment to busses moving forward was made even earlier. That was 3 years ago - They have MM+ to pay for now and higher capacity buses they don't NEED the monorails any longer. (or at least TDO does not think they need them).
I'd really like to hear a Monorail Maintenance CM chime in to see if the monorails are actually being SERVICED now or are just parked and this whole maintenance thing is just a dry run to see the transportation flows without monorails in service

Meaningless. Insurance reserves paid for thatThey had two trains slam into each other and still rebuilt them.
So? If the idea is that there is a coordinated plan to shutter the monorails that would have been an ideal opportunity.Meaningless. Insurance reserves paid for that
If they wanted to do that, they would shut the beam 24/7.....

This is not the first time the monorails have been unavailable during the day, most recently being this past October. Why test something that has already occurred?
If they wanted to do that, they would shut the beam 24/7. They are not doing that. Because of the design of the MK, You do not have a single effective means transporting guests from the TTC to the Main gate. You can have all the buses and watercraft you want, but method that moves the most guests is the monorail.
You are seeing funds going into the infrastructure of the system. Things like updated train controls, more intensive beam maintenance, new signal systems, new automated control systems have been done or are in progress. That is not the sign of giving up on this transportation platform.
So? If the idea is that there is a coordinated plan to shutter the monorails that would have been an ideal opportunity.
