RUMOR: Pirates of the Caribbean Replacing Peter Pan in “FANTASMIC 2.0” Show at Disneyland in 2017

I have heard that the show will be mostly newer properties, but all Disney branded (i.e. no Star Wars/Marvel).

I should also clarify that this project is pretty tight lipped. Very little info on it has leaked other than Pirates. Frozen is an obvious add - that's more assumed than leaked from what I've heard.
I've got money on a Frozen sequence and a tangled sequence coming. Specifically I see the light.

As so incredibly stupid of an idea it is for Disney to inject their latest IP into Fantasmic like a junkie getting his fix, this is a golden Photoshop from Twitter:

Off subject, but don't ya think it's time for some princes in there too? I mean I'm all for girl power and all that stuff, but I think that they've really saturated Disney with too much femininity. and here comes the unwarranted backlash in 3-2-1.... don't you millennials get your dander all in a fluff with this.

The new ideas sound promising for the show. I hope that it still maintains the show quality and doesn't turn into a long advertisement/music video like WOC has become, or how DLF is.

The respective princesses are joined by their respective princes in that section of the show...unless you're referring to an entire section with just a few princes.

Speaking of princesses, it sure would be nice to see the princesses of color more in the parades/shows.

True, but princes are always second fiddle. they're like the co-stars who are 3/4 down in the credits scroll at the end of a movie. they are definitely not the main attraction, ever.

This is true. A lot of them have enough substance to have their own parts (Aladdin, Shang, Eugene/Flynn, Beast, Naveen, etc.). Good luck getting Disney to do something like that. I'm a woman, but I'm also tired of seeing the princesses everywhere. Maybe if they'd actually change them up, I wouldn't feel the way I do.

They've compensated a little over the years with Carsland and Star Wars experience, but even Star Wars has felt the sting of not being PC enough and now has female leads in their next 2 movies coming out. Next thing we'll see is Lightning McQueen change his paint color to purple and have a tune up of his voice to something akin to Baileywick. lol (the only reason I know that last character is because my 15 month old son likes all cartoons on Disney junior, for their songs mostly (it's true Mike S.!, they get all the good ones!)

Not everything is a princess movie. Of course the princesses are the leads in the princess movies. That doesn't mean Disney lacks male leads.

Buzz & Woody, Lightning McQueen, Nemo, Sully & Mike, Ralph, Russell & Carl, Wall-E, Remy, etc.

I hate PC more than anyone but I disagree with your assessment of Star Wars. Nothing about Rey felt like a forced / unnatural female lead just for the sake of having one. We'll see about Rogue One. Now if they #GiveCaptainAmericaABoyfriend, I'll lose my mind.

I liked TFA, thought it was way more worthy of a sequel than the prequel trilogy, and I'm looking forward to Rogue One. But to say that PC didn't influence the decision in some way (even the most minute) is naïve. You know that was a factor. Even if it was only 5%, it still played a role, in both movies.

As for the male leads, I'm talking about the parks mostly. How many times do you see male only meet and greets? I'd say it's a about a 70%/30% female to male ratio.

I like to pick my battles. Even if JJ said "I'm making Rey the lead for 100% PC purposes because we want a female lead in Star Wars," I'd be okay with it. It's not the motivations that bother me, it's when the motivations interfere with the creative result. Making a female Star Wars lead for the sake of feminism is fine with me as long as she feels appropriate in the role. Rey was freaking awesome. She felt like a lead and she felt like she belonged in the SW universe. I "believed" Daisy Ridley in that role after about 30 seconds with her on Jakku.

Little girls like meet and greets more than little boys do. Yes, there are exceptions, but that's a generally true statement.

Ghostbusters is a perfect example. I was hyped for the new cast, but the movie fell flat for me when I saw it. after 20 years, that's all they could come up with? the motivations of the director were PC driven, and the movie kinda stunk.

agreed on daisy. hayden Christensen however couldn't act himself out of a paper sack.

thinking about my childhood at Disney parks, I couldn't wait to have my pic with mickey, et al.

Is there something wrong with being politically correct? Women have been underrepresented in SW, so they should be given a spotlight in the series, right? The same could be said for Disney princes. Call it whatever you want but "political correctness" isn't a bad thing, at least not in this context.
