Blink, blink. Breathe, breathe. Day in, day out.
I also think he’s the only person who has ever written the music and lyrics AND played the starring role in a Tony Award Winning musical. (Oh yeah... and he did it twice.)
Talented writer. Horrible actor.

Love the guy, but he should’ve originally just cast an actually good actor to play Hamilton. His own acting ability was the weakness in the original show. (Obviously it didn’t hurt the show hardly at all but still! Coulda been perfect.)

I certainly wouldn’t say he’s a horrible actor. He was perfect for in the heights. I think part of the appeal is having the writer be the star... kinda like when they had Sting in “Last Ship”

But I will say I saw Austin Scott last year as Hamilton on broadway and yeah... he added a lot of really nice touches to the part. He aged with the character so subtly and yet so perfectly. If I was given the choice tomorrow to see Lin or Austin? Tough one...

Somebody saw him in Hamilton, agreed with the popular opinion that he wasn’t the greatest singer, and is now trying to drag him through the mud.

Lazy critique.

Quite upsetting to see a person on this forum wish another human being dead because they don’t enjoy what that person does creatively. Seriously, be better.

As someone that’s seen Hamilton, I can say that it really doesn’t take a “side” on the political spectrum. And while the musical isn’t 100 percent historically accurate (it’s entertainment, after all), it does show that all of the founding fathers were flawed individuals, and many of the things they were debating back then are things that we’re still debating now.

You’re also not going to be able to find a creator that can speak about America’s history and politics without having their own opinion on them. It’s Disney and guests visit from all over the world, so they just want something more fun for a wider audience. I welcome this change if it happens. HoP is a divisive attraction, and depending on who is in office, a large amount of visitors will purposefully refuse to step foot inside of the attraction, not wanting to see an animatronic of that President. LMM and WAY are two creators that seem eager to collaborate, and something really unique could liven things up in that section of the park as a result.

Lazy critique? Nah fam. I know nothing what the entire Hamilton-viewing crowd opinion. I earned a college degree Theatre Arts and anybody who knows anything about acting techniques and how to cast a show can tell you that he just isn’t good.

Hamilton in and of itself is a terrible show. If you have to listen to a soundtrack before attending a performance to be able to understand the lyrics of the songs that set up a story (because they’re being rapped too fast), then it shouldn’t be onstage. It’s at that point just a music concert. I purposefully didn’t listen to the soundtrack for H. because I wanted to be in awe based on all the praise it got. What did I hear when I saw It live? Slurred words, rapping too fast, and both me and my parents couldn’t understand what was going on sometimes as a result. My fiancée and roommate went too and they knew the whole soundtrack and agreed with me.

The soundtrack is amazing, but not as a show. Lin Manuel can write, but he cannot act.

I’m glad it won all the awards it did though, because it was definitely groundbreaking on many aspect. I will never credit Lin as a good actor though.

I try to listen to soundtracks of every show I go to, while that’s partially to make sure I’ll enjoy it before I pay the high price for a ticket, it’s also so I don’t have to concentrate on the lyrics to follow the story, between all the choreography and acting that is involved for the actors and the acoustics of the building it’s never going to be the best pure vocal experience. Unlike Opera, a “stand and sing” number is the exception rather then the rule in musicals. You need to know the story and lyrics so you can focus on the acting performances and choreography otherwise it’s just an overload of information.

I made the mistake of seeing Les Mis completely blind and I hated the show, it wasn’t until I listened to the soundtrack and re-saw it that I grew to enjoy it. Much like going to WDW, going to live musical theatre requires homework prior to going to fully enjoy it.

I've seen enough movies and TV shows to know that usually there is at least some subtle political message in the majority of dramatic productions

So we need to take out it’s a small world because it was written by men who wrote music for movies and dramatic productions? Clearly that whole “world peace” theme has some sort of subtle political message?

Oh see I’m the opposite. I listened to too much of next to normal and it ruined the surprises for me. After that I go in as blind as I can and I feel it’s usually for the best. And yes that includes Hamilton, I went without knowing the soundtrack and I did fine and was never lost in the story. But that’s me.

No. The OP said that they were going to create a "non-partisan" show. All I said was I was skeptical of that, especially since the Presidency is, by definition, a political position. Avatar/FoP has a not so subtle political message. That doesn't mean I think it should be taken out or changed. My comment was specific to the rumor.
