Can you understand what they’re saying in Hoop de doo?LOL.
I guess it's no Hoop de doo Revue, huh?

Although this may be drifting, I have been completely aloof from the whole Hamilton craze and never listened to the soundtrack. When I was briefly in Chicago in December (I live in the Netherlands) I decided to catch that production and really liked it a lot. Maybe I would have got more out of it had I heard the soundtrack beforehand, but I can say that it wasn't necessary to enjoy it and understand what was going on. At least for me, anyway.Oh see I’m the opposite. I listened to too much of next to normal and it ruined the surprises for me. After that I go in as blind as I can and I feel it’s usually for the best. And yes that includes Hamilton, I went without knowing the soundtrack and I did fine and was never lost in the story. But that’s me.
Can you understand what they’re saying in Hoop de doo?
I've never seen the show. It was an honest question.
I'm done... You might have permanent damage from all the pixie dust.
I agree with this. The rest of the hate against him on this forum is unfounded. Bad actor. Great writer.Talented writer. Horrible actor.
Love the guy, but he should’ve originally just cast an actually good actor to play Hamilton. His own acting ability was the weakness in the original show. (Obviously it didn’t hurt the show hardly at all but still! Coulda been perfect.)
Horrible actor.
Bad actor.
Hmm. Andrew Rannells and Nathan Lane are the only that come to mind. This is not meant to be argumentative - who are your favorite broadway actors?
Cause I’m trying to think through how I would compare him as an actor... I feel like his shows are so much a part of him that he can just be himself to an extent.
I said I was "skeptical" that they would create a completely non-partisan show. I don't "think" as I don't know what they will come up with.So you've seen enough shows not written by LMM to think that one written by LMM would be (at least subtly) partisan?
Lazy critique? Nah fam. I know nothing what the entire Hamilton-viewing crowd opinion. I earned a college degree Theatre Arts and anybody who knows anything about acting techniques and how to cast a show can tell you that he just isn’t good.
Hamilton in and of itself is a terrible show. If you have to listen to a soundtrack before attending a performance to be able to understand the lyrics of the songs that set up a story (because they’re being rapped too fast), then it shouldn’t be onstage. It’s at that point just a music concert. I purposefully didn’t listen to the soundtrack for H. because I wanted to be in awe based on all the praise it got. What did I hear when I saw It live? Slurred words, rapping too fast, and both me and my parents couldn’t understand what was going on sometimes as a result. My fiancée and roommate went too and they knew the whole soundtrack and agreed with me.
The soundtrack is amazing, but not as a show. Lin Manuel can write, but he cannot act.
I’m glad it won all the awards it did though, because it was definitely groundbreaking on many aspect. I will never credit Lin as a good actor though.
All right, all right, I'll settle this. I will write a new show that goes in the Hall Of Presidents. An epic musical extravaganza about that great American... Adlai Stevenson! Here's a preview-
Adlai Stevenson
A giant of a man, he weighs a ton!
Adlai Stevenson
And now his story's begun!
Since it's not a celebrity doing the new show, everyone should be cool with this, right? (And I haven't even gotten into the song featuring the phony Final Fantasy 6 quotes!)

AA is superior to hall of presidents in my opinion.Well, it's great for Disney+ because I can turn on subtitles. Without them, I wouldn't be able to understand the show. LMM isn't the best singer but he does know his part. I enjoyed it for what it was and even appreciate its telling of American history in a modern form. Still, no retheme of Liberty Square, please. If they want to do a short show at the AA pavilion (similar to Disney on Broadway during the EFOTA, I'm fine with that.
I’m planning on producing a show on Broadway when I’m about 30. But aside from that. Hamilton is a masterpiece don’t get me wrong. But it’s much more suitable for Disney+ with subtitles instead of a broadway show where some patrons don’t listen to the soundtrack beforehand for fear of spoiling the show.Yep, your college degree definitely outweighs his career experience, his Tony Awards, 2 successful broadway shows, and all of the other awards he's won.
Can't wait to see you, or your show, on Broadway.![]()

I am currently taking over my father’s 45 year old highly successful touring children’s theatre company, “The Baillie Players” (boy what a time to do that, eh?)Are you currently working in the live entertainment industry? Why do you want to be a producer?
Just a note: I am NOT comparing my own work to Hamilton by ANY means. Nor will I ever Get to that level with children’s theatre.I am currently taking over my father’s 45 year old highly successful touring children’s theatre company, “The Baillie Players” (boy what a time to do that, eh?)
I produce children’s theatre throughout S.C., Louisiana, and currently expanding into Florida whenever this whole pandemic goes away. We provide sets, costumes, props, sound, we write our own scripts/music, ect.
Ive personally produced my own original show, HomeSquad: The Musical, with the students at our locally owned and operated theatre, “The Inman Theatre.”
My goal is to bring two temporary 1-month long running children’s theatre performances to broadway starring nothing but kids.
Not looking to make a profit by any means. Just to say I’ve done it.
