Rumor: COP replacement

I'm sick:

1. Because I think CoP needs updating not removed! It's a Disney and a American classic. I think that more people would check out the attraction if it was updated with new technologies.

2. What happened to the ride going along with the theme of the area? Did they just toss that one out of the window???? (isn't that part of the "magic").

3. NO MORE ATTRACTIONS WHERE I WATCH A VIDEO SCREEN!!!!

As for this rumored attraction going into the Innoventions building at Disneyland - didn't Disney and Microsoft strike a deal for Microsoft to do something with that building? Or could it be divided into two purposes (upper floor and lower floor)? I would be surprised for Microsoft to share any concept with Pixar. Or, is this Disney/MS connection totally a fabrication of my mind from reading too many Disney forums!!

Here is the solution to saving 3 great rides and inculding one greaty Movie!

I wonder if CoP could fit inside WoL :lookaroun?

I agree with this question. It seems like it would make a good use of this ride. If they could somehow integrate COP and Wonders of Life and Meet the Robinsons, it could make for a great ride and learning experience. Here is how I connect the dots there. COP starts in the past and brings you to the present and talks about inventions. Meet the Robinsons starts int he past with him as a baby and goes to the future. In the movie he "cracks the Hippo campus". WoL is all about understanding the brain so there you go. I know that is choppy but I am sure the imagineers could go with that idea and smooth it out. Two great rides would be saved and a possible new ride would be created in the process. If you really want to stretch it, bring back Horizons components and give everyone back another great ride!!

I understand the historical value of COP and I agree that if they ever replaced it I think something should be done to keep the ride intact, in some form somewhere, but I have never seen COP in person so I don't think I can really honestly say that I would be upset if something replaced it.

That said, I think they would be really testing our talerance levels if they added yet another movie screen based attraction.

Hopefully it is nothing but a rumor!! I love CoP, its a must see every visit and I would be crushed if they got rid of it  If this does come true I'm glad I got video of the entire thing on my last visit!

This about WALL-E?
Not a greenlit project, just a concept at this point.
Could happen...but won't be close until the film comes out and performs.

Or it might just fade away like so many concepts do...

Even if it's about a blank screen and the only thing going on in the theater is the rotation of the theater itself, it will be about 400x more entertaining that what's currently there.

COP is part of the Holy group of rides that make disney, well, disney.
SW, HM, POTC, JC. Some rides have over the years become part of this, other have well, Captain EO anyone?

My main point is that certain rides should be plussed to keep their magic going. COP was Walt's baby and that shouldn't be taken away. I think there's a huge difference in a ride dying due to negligence than a ride dying due to the sheer fact that it doesn't appeal to people anymore.

New rides have become a big part of disney. TOT and EE for example. They are fantastic because they take you somewhere else, on a magical adventure. I would argue that although the screen based rides are fun, most of them really lack that true immersion that the AA's and 3d environments provide.

Its not to say that screens shouldn't be used, but not to the degree that people are suggesting. I know AA's are expensive, but when you get to Barbossa's ship attacking the port scene in POTC, it takes my breath away. I feel like i'm there.

Although I think MLF is a cute attraction, I feel like i'm playing my xbox and not on a ambient adventure in the magic kingdom.

I'm hoping that the Harry Potter world really causes Disney to do a double take and makes them realise that AAs are the way to go and to keep making 'adventure' rides.

Accept for the fact that they had absolutely no problem kicking it's sorry out of DL decades ago. It may have happened sooner if not for budget issues. Like WDW really wants to have a pointless seasonal attraction in the corner of it's keystone park?

For all those people who complain about video screens...the kids seem to enjoy these attractions...which make parents happy.

Also, on the bright side it can save parents a lot of money. If they keep switching out attractions and replace them with video screens, we could all just get WDW on DVD and stay home and watch it instead of going to Florida and spending all of that money! ;)

I would have to respectfully disagree with this particular opinion. CoP can't touch the timelessness of SW, HM, POTC, or JC to the casual american. These rides are ingrained into our Americana/Disney heritage...CoP is not. For Disney enthusiasts (like all of us) it holds a place because of what it means in terms of Walt and his dreams, but for the normal Disney-goer...it's an irrelevant and unpopular ride stuffed in the corner of Tomorrowland.
