Rumor: COP replacement

Yes I am very familar with that thread. I started it. It's evident that Corrus didn't talk to the pool guy on that one. I think because of his involvement he was being told something different. He's right the vast majority of the time, so I would still put my money on him. After all he said very recently that it was just a matter of time for the CoP.

uh huh . . . :ROFLOL: Corrus spends half his time giving good hints and the rest of the time sending people off in the wrong direction for his own amusement.

I hope i did not misunderstand your simulator comment, please advise if i did.
No you didn't misunderstand me, but asking if you did puts your kindness and respect level above many other posters, thank you for that.

I think that both Soarin' and Mission Space as simulators are decent rides. I at least appreciate the scope of them and the sensation they present is intense and believable. But it is just hard for me to think that something the size of Horizons was replaced by something the size of Mission Space. Horizons took you on a journey through a very big show building. Mission Space puts you in a tiny capsule and while it feels intense and real, you still know fully well you didn't actually go anywhere. I am just the type of person that appreciates something you can reach out and touch and things that are actually all around you and not just illusions.

P.S. - As for Corrus' promises, I know he knows more than most of us but I just want to remind everyone that he promised and guarenteed me that the Epcot wand wasn't going anywhere. So C.O.P. has a chance.

I also like being able to reach out and touch and moving somewhere. That was awesome, although I enjoy MS as well.

However you can always ride EE, where the Yeti will reach out and touch you:D

I have to disagree. Half the point of the Monsters laugh club is that it's a different show every time. That they interact with people, that they can see who's in the crowd and talk to them. Can you do that with Animatronics? Can you make it believable with animatronics? Animatronics are programed to just do the same thing over and over, while this show is meant to be different every time.

The answer is yes. You can do this with Audio-Animatronics, and in fact it is already being done on smaller scales with the Roz in Monsters, Inc. at California Adventure, the Muppet Labs, and even Lucky the Dinosaur. These all involve live operators and they are quite believable. With the technology out there today, an entire show based on AAs that are interactive is not even a question. It's more a question of money than anything else. By using the video screens, Disney saves themselves buttloads of money, but in so doing they're really just acting cheap.
Personally, the idea of an Audio-Animatronic character show is a million times more immersive than any dumb video screen.

I love it when someone says exactly what I was thinking and saves me typing time.

The other problem with relying too much on video screen based attractions is that anyone can do them. Right now there's a 3D show at Hershey Park and sceen based rides at Six Flags and I'm sure that other theme parks are doing the same. To stay ahead of the pack Disney needs to do things that the other parks can't do either because of technology, creativity or budget.

It is true other parks utilize screen technology. However WDW still takes their themeing to another level. You can't find the immersive enviroment at other theme parks that you can at Disney...rather it's MILF...The Seas with Nemo...Mission Space...or Soarin'
