Rumor concerning Phil Holmes

It sounds like he did an amazing job running the Disney Stores.

Pressler did do a great job with both growing the chain and keeping quality high. Had he stayed with them it's very possible they wouldn't have denigrated into the mess they became and, really, still are.

But he had no business in the theme park business at all.

It would be the same as taking a great dentist and making him head of pediactrics at a hospital because kids do have teeth.

Made no sense. He did an awful job and wasn't helped by taking over at the end of Eisner's tenure when cutting costs/quality at all costs was the edict.

I just saw an internal promotional image of him for American Idol. It's quite scary. I'd say I'm pretty used to Disney promotional materials, but I have to say I'm amazed how much more fake a smile can be.

He definitely takes insincerity to a magical new level.

Well, I didn't really care for Pressler the few times I met him. Although he really did seem to like his work with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.

Rasulo has NO use for the parks at all. Imagine (I am sure for some of you it is reality) having a job you don't like, selling a product you get no joy from (or don't even get) but you do it because it is a good job and it affords you a nice lifestyle. That is Jay.

He doesn't understand his product and he doesn't care to. Look at how much time he spends in the parks versus any of his predecessors.

should'nt we be asking what idiot gave a job like that to someone like him

The crowds pouring through the gates not withstanding.

I'd just like to hear one person say 'I saw Phil today at work with his badge on' so we can say it was false and planted for whatever reason(s).

That wouldn't necessarily mean anything if it was a situation like with Cynthia Harriss, though, right?

Crowds puring through gates during spring break are meaningless as far as the quality of management. Absolutely meaningless.
Just so I look fair!

I would say this points to a mismanagement with all the reforcasting they have had to do with hours and labor over the past few week.

I could be wrong, but that is how it appears on the surface.

No, Cyn was a special circumstance because people died on her watch just as she was being terminated.

I can't say 100% for certain because I just don't recall ... but I don't believe she was seen at TDA for many weeks before her 'departure' was announced.

Phil isn't in that type of situation. He is either still VP or not ...

This is just dumb at this point. You'd think someone would have either seen him or seen his office empty.

I don't know whether you 'look' fair.

But I would agree with your point.

As far as I know both UNI and BEC have operated their parks at traditional hours, so they didn't need to scramble at last minute as Disney did.

Mismanagement would not be reacting to the higher than expected crowds. Doubt you would see any non-Disney parks go to the lengths of adding parades and extending hours to give guests a better experience.

General Motors was the big dog on the block at one time also!

History is littered with great American names that don't exist anymore ... Pan Am ... TWA ... Montgomery Ward ... Woolworth's ... and those don't include all the manufacturing companies that disappeared the past few decades.

Mismanagement would be cutting the hours and entertainment in a kneejerk fashion to begin with.

If you screw up, but correct the problem after the fact does it mean you didn't screw up to begin with?

Yep, and it all went downhill the more the government involved itself in the auto industry. What started out as supposed good intentions has pretty much destroyed the industry.

Ralph Nader invented the slippery slope :brick:

Al Gore franchises them

Yep ... government is always the problem ... except when it helps Big Business and the rich.

JT ... you seem to have an 'issue' with Al Gore. Do you prefer your leaders to be ignorant buffoons who can't speak in coherent sentences and make us laughingstocks around the world?

You don't really have to answer ... just rhetorical.

But wasn't everybody and their lawyers saying the tourism business was about to tank? That is the way I remember it. I'm sure you were saying the opposite however.

It was prudent to be cautious in these uncertain times. It's better for the guests for Disney to post a schedule and then go and increase it than the other way around.

You can bet the other Orlando parks have gone with cautious hours and haven't bothered increasing them. That would be mismanagement.
