Rude guests (rant sorry)

Does anyone ever ask themselves how some of these uncouth patrons can afford a $4,000 to $10,000 Disney vacation? All I have to say is that if this country ever moves away from the instant payout that occurs each tax season, Disney is going to be in trouble (and we will start to enjoy our vacations again).

I work in a more well-to-do area and those people treat us way worse then the "normal" folks do. Every new person who has worked in other parts of town are always shocked at how rude our customers are. All that money doesn't buy manners.

Just got back from a six day stay at WDW.
I'm happy to say, that I didn't encounter any blatant or memorable rudeness.
The occasional parent who let their kids cartwheel around the Animal
Kingdom Lodge Mara market - something I wouldn't have allowed my own kids to do - but otherwise, a very, very nice trip.

Also I don't know what you mean by "instant payout." There's nothing wrong with increasing your tax withholding to guarantee a return come April. In many cases it's a financially prudent decision.

The problem with our tax system is that in many cases it pays back more than what people are putting in which in turn leads to a windfall at tax time that people are using to pay for Disney vacations. This influx of cash is what has led to the massive crowds at Disney so if you take away the instant money, the crowds will decrease leading to less rude behavior and more enjoyable vacations of days past.

This is true for the lower income people. But they take it from the middle class. Our income is in the "screw you" phase so we are taxed at 20% and do not get that much back. But the younger people I work with get back so much more then they ever put in.

Oh...
Clean too.
I wasn't doing a survey, but aside from the odd stray water bottle or cup - something that arguably could have been forgotten rather then deliberately left behind, and that may have only been left minutes before I saw it - the parks were clean.
All of them.
Bathrooms too.

We have always found the parks to be very clean, especially the bathrooms. For as many people(and most are pigs) that come through there, I think they do an amazing job of keeping things clean.

Now there you go, bringing reality into the picture. :) I completely agree with you.

I'm sure that you were just wearing your pixie-colored glasses, and couldn't see the pig sty that WDW has become. /sarcasm (for those that don't get it)

Problem is, when connected to this thread, there still isn't enough left to make a trip to WDW. Pay some back rent perhaps. Maybe get some protein in the diet. Maybe a celebratory beer. But, to think that the people that go to WDW are those that get the extra money due to an income so low, they can't live on what they make, is a bit of a stretch. I'm sure that they take that check and reserve a room at the Grand Floridian. Come on folks at least use a little common sense in your arguments.

It makes me so mad. Every year our community puts together a back to school event where people buy backpacks and school supplies for "lower income" kids, so they can have school supplies. They are supposed to show tax records to prove they are "deserving" and every year the news covers it and the Mom is saying how grateful she is, all the while waving around her new I-phone. One year I saw one driving off in a BMW!

There was a story on the news a few years back about a guy who won the lottery - I forget how much but over a million - and had been on welfare before and was found to be still collecting welfare and there was some sort of loophole where since it wasn't technically income there was nothing they could legally do.

Yes, but you both are talking about people that are "cheating" the system. On paper they may appear to be low income, but, are not. The original train of thought was the "poor" were getting extra money in their refund so they were the ones that were filling up the parks, with rudeness. The system cheaters might qualify, but, not the actual poor.

It's not unusual to see poor people with an I-phone or equivalent. It is almost a necessity now. Heck, even as long as 15 years ago when I drove a city bus, I used to bring people to the Food Shelf in the morning for breakfast. It was common for them to be on their cell phone inviting someone to meet them there. People pushing shopping carts down the middle of the traffic lane while talking on their cells were also common. In spite of that, I truly doubt you would have seen them in WDW.
There was also a possibility that they were talking to no one at all just had a broken cell phone that they were waving around to look prosperous and, in some cases, having a conversation with no one on the other end. I saw a guy once with a land line phone hand set talking on it to, obviously, no one while riding the bus.

I had literally just finished reading this thread when I decided it to was time to head out to the beach (staying at Caribbean Beach Resort)

Upon leaving my room I discovered that our neighbors (whom I'd already heard telling their child to "shut the **** up") had left a try of half eaten food outside their door. Seeing as literally all rooms at CBR are outside, I couldn't understand what would possess anyone to do this, especially considering there is wildlife, and multiple signs saying not to feed said wildlife, at the resort.

It was very clear to me that these guests expected someone to clean up after them...unsurprising the food stayed their until the next morning when the maids came around.

This made me so mad, there was literally a bin 5 steps from the room and yet they just assumed they could leave their rubbish on the ground!

The food was not from room service by the way, so was not being waited to be picked up.

I feel like this is just another example of that sense of entitlement that has been mentioned so many times in this thread alone!

Sorry for TMI, but I can't help but share. I was on Small World last week, Friday I believe, and there was an unwrapped maxi pad (sanitary napkin for our British members) just floating in the water at the start of the ride. Deliberately unwrapped and left there. Of all the sophomoric idiocy that guests find funny, this one took the cake.

I know I'm a new member, but I have actually been visiting this site for almost 10 years now, just never signed up.

That being said, I am a CM. I just need to rant about the "quality" of the guests and the "quality" of the magical experience you want when you visit Disney.

Most people on these forums do not fall into the rude guests category (thankfully) but I'm sure many of you have seen them when you visit.

Lately, the guests are horrible. Not in the stupid way, they are always stupid, it's expected. We get a laugh out of the dumb things they say anyway. But more recently, RUDE. Pushing and shoving rude, not washing your kids rude, being unreasonably demanding rude, tearing things apart rude, yelling at CMs rude. These people should be ashamed of themselves. When I go to work I can't tell if I am at a theme park or a zoo. And then, these are the same people who complain about the guest service they are getting at Disney. Well guess what? When you are rude to CMs, they WILL NOT go above and beyond for you. You're lucky if I even answer your question correctly. You need to be nice. We are not your slaves. Don't let your kids run wild. Don't push and cut in front of people. Don't pout and stomp your foot when you don't get your way. This is ridiculous and I fear for the future of society.

I know I'm going to get those comments of "well if you don't like it just quit!" But it's so much more than that. People should be able to act like civilized adults. It's really not that hard. I can't believe that Disney lets people be rude as hell and security and managers just stand there. It is crazy and you are only going to get a worse and worse guest service experience if you continue to act like rabid animals.

That is all.

I've been going to Disney for decades... And the one thing I've noticed is the quality of the CM's has declined... Not all CM's are bad but I've seen my share of CM's that don't do their job and instead find using their phones to be more relevant than the guest they are paid to provide service to.... Being treated nice as a CM isn't something a CM should expect if they aren't doing their job, I'm never rude to a CM that does their job, but I will not tolerate one that is playing on their phone when I'm trying to pay for something or get help and sadly the number that seem to think that their phone comes first and job second seems to be going up... frankly I thought CM's weren't supposed to be on their phones when they were on the job.

You've seen CMs playing on their phones on stage? Where? That truly surprises me. The only time I've ever seen anything like that is a non-costumed manager using their company phone for work purposes.

I've seen it in various shops and more often at the outside kiosks that sell stuff. Have fortunately not seen it happen on stage during any performance that would probably be the last straw that convinced me Disney wasn't worth paying for anymore.

We saw the same thing...a USED tampon laying rite near the loading area of Space Mtn a few years ago...not sure how that even happens..

You know merchandise cast members have been given tablets and/or iPhones for guest relation purposes, right? They're used for various things, including scanning MagicBands and looking up where merchandise items are for sale across property.

If there is no customer there besides me then I'm pretty sure they aren't looking anything up for another customer.
