Roger and Walter today. Roger pulling his yellow consist and Walter pulling Roy's blue 400s. So the Walt and Roy express:) and boy was it an express. Walt took off with little effort out of FL station that by the time we were past the space mountain entrance the spiel for Tron was begining!!!! Fun!

Honestly they both pulled out of the stations with such effortless ease.
I think I just realized something: unlike Walter and Lilly, Roger's repainted colors keeps the small square stripes that you see below the engineer's front window. Walter and Lilly had theirs removed during refurbishment. Likewise, Roger retains his emerald green stripe on the tender, while Walter (sadly) had the brown stripe removed.

Additionally, I read on Facebook that Roger's logos are hand painted, while the ones on Walter and Lilly are apparently just plastic decals.

That probably explains why Steve Broggie was at the roundhouse the day the locomotive returned, but it already had paint, just no lettering.
Steve wasn’t at the roundhouse when Roger returned. That photo was sent to him. Also, the Broggie family had no say in Roger’s appearance. It was all management’s decision. Anyway, the nod to the opening day scheme looks great.

But even the new text font and redesigned tender logo makes it stand out a lot more compared to its old appearance.

Part of me now wonders if the Broggie family was behind some of the changes made to the locomotive…

That's very incorrect, because Strasburg were ones who did the new tender logo on it. Look at the video of Roger under testing at Strasburg and you can visibly the newly redesigned logo on the tender underneath the covered tarpaulin:

In the new video you can kinda hear how similar the Lonergan on Roger and the Crosby on Walter are. But like I said, the engineer I talked with on Instagram says that the crew hates the Crosby whistle. Personally, it sounds fine, but either the Baldwin or the Buckeye would fit it better.
I honestly prefer Walter with the Buckeye whistle more, because every time I hear Lilly wearing Walter's original Buckeye, it started to remind me of Walter... :(

You know, I'm kinda starting to get annoyed at how awkwardly the black boxes on Lilly Belle were placed. Here's what it looks like:

On Walter and Roger, it's placed more normally in the corner of the cab. On both sides of Lilly, it seems to be placed in the middle of the underside of the cab. The placement looks much better on Walter and Roger than it does on Lilly. Btw can someone remind me of the purpose of the boxes? I remember that Lilly didn't have this for the first few months or so after it came back from its overhaul; it was installed sometime in 2018.

That’s definitely not how that should look!!!!
