ROE Test Show

While it falls under an added pyro, one type that they normally don't use were the pyro fountains on the water during We Go On. The only time I've seen them are during the Holiday Tag. They lit the "candles" on the water earlier, and then the pyro fountains lit up when the candles normally lit.

One other thing about the screens on the globe, the globe isn't a perfect recreation of the Earth's land masses. Their sizes are a bit larger than real life to give more viewing area, while still giving a fairly good representation of the world.

And lastly for the people who are saying to project something onto Spaceshop Earth... There are a LOT of viewing locations around the Promenade with absolutely no view of SSE at all. (Among them is my favorite location... For years I didn't realize that SSE's lights were blown out with the torches) And those in the Plaza would have to get some indication to turn around and face AWAY from the water...

But I'll agree with the others that this version just seems too empty without the globe. It plays into the storyline of the show way too much for it to be gone permanently. This version will do on a temporary basis until they can refurb the globe, but it'd better be back! :)

The Globe is an icon...

Don't get rid of it! Disney, if you do decide you must do away with the globe or ROE all together, please give us more than just fireworks out in the lagoon, how is that any different from Seaworld? I want storyline and show elements to definitely be used in whatever new show is upon the horizon, whether it's just a refurb of ROE or an entirely new show like "Skydance". By the way, have you guys seen Braviseamo at Tokyo Disney sea? If we are, in fact, due for a new show, WDI in Orlando should take some pointers from the creators of that show, it's phenomenal!

I cast my lot with the "better with the globe" folks. I do agree that BraviSEAmo is a great show, but I still prefer ROE a little, the fireworks elements in the DisneySeas show are just so so (of course that is just my opinion).

One of the scenes that I like most with the globe is that when the light the candles on the video of the globe is when the torches normally light, I have always thought that was a nice touch.

Does anybody have any good info on a) when the globe is going away b) how long it is going to be on hiatus?

I feel that Illuminations would be 900% with touch-screen implementation.

"Do you like red fireworks, or blue fireworks?

Do you like green lasers, or water effects?

*snapshot*

Look at this video of you watching fireworks!! In the future!!!!"

Sorry for the delay on the video, but it is coming. I just feel the globe adds so much. The show to tonight felt empty, not special like usual and.....short. The globe is needed. Hopefully next week or whenever it is up it will be that much better.

I know we don't need 8 pages of the same thing, but I have to agree that "We Go On" missing the globe was a bit of a stretch, almost like this was decided upon without any real way of filling in that empty space.

I still love I:RoE just as it was intended.

Also-
And BTW, for anyone who has ordered/received the Celebration25 DVD, the images on the globe are very clear on the DVD.
This is true, you can watch I:RoE shot by 5 cameras, all being used by fans of the show. (Plus the one night only 25 anniversary tag)

Me no likey! No touchy the globe...NO TOUCHY!!!

Ok, now that I've released my inner Kuzko I'll be serious for a moment...

I really hope the globe isn't gone for good. My wife and I will always have a very strong attachment to I:RoE, we bawl at the end every time cuz' it's just so emotional for us. The globe adds alot to the presentation in my opinion and without it the show feels empty and lifeless and if I'm not mistaken they had to cut several minutes of the brilliant score which is a travesty in and of itself because the score for I:RoE is one of the most beautiful and moving pieces of music every recorded IMHO. The score for I:RoE stays in the cd player in my car ALL OF THE TIME.

I really hope the globe's absence is temporary cuz' if it isn't then they have successfully butchered one of my absolute favorite WDW experiences.

Yay! I was viewer number 199--haha

Anyway---I don't like it without the globe. The music they cut out was too harsh, and they did nothing but shoot off the exact same ground fireworks at certain intervals. I think they need to plus the globe and bring it back.

I think if they did a better job "explaining" the show to people, more would understand it, and get what's going on with the globe. That and making the globe easier to see (having mini globes all over the lagoon? haha), I think more people would get more out of the show.

And don't even get me started about the missing opening speech----that's the best part! I'm hoping that was just a fluke.

Thanks for the video though---I just refreshed and your up over 200 views now!

Thanks for the video. :)

The show will do as a filler, but I much prefer the proper show. You can certainly tell the pyro designed by Eric Tucker and other filler stuff. It just doest fit the same way or have the degree of timing.

Hurry back Earth barge!! :)

Has anyone else noticed that they actually just cut out about 2 minutes of the show? Watch the video and at 2:10 into the video, notice the immediate (kind of choppy) change in music. This is the part where the globe comes out and the fountains are green/blue. I hope that they don't cut that out because it is an important part of the composition and storyline. So far, the only other thing which has upset me is "We Go On" and where the fireworks normally burst from the globe, which is my favorite part of the show.

It feels like its missing something without the globe and how does the story get across without the beginning narration? I think that bothers me even more than the globe missing. Hopefully it will come back better than ever (preferably by the week of April 18th!).

Hopefully the test will give the all go for the rehab. I'm really looking forward to seeing what she looks like when she's all finished and back on the water with her upgrades. :D

It was gone for 1 night, it's not in rehab. Everyone stop going into panic mode!

We'll see tonight if anyone goes to Epcot tonight (you don't have to if you don't feel like it, it was so nice that some of you went last night. It just would be interesting what happens tonight.)

That was only a 1 night test show. Everything will be back to normal tonight and maybe weeks to come.

All the Entertainment big wigs were there and watched the show and they filmed it also. Now they will discuss it and see if it needs some work or if it is good to go. There is no official word yet when the Earth Globe will go out for rehab, but I have been hearing around the June time frame. It depends on parts availability and the outside contractor.

There were several ...oops last night, of course, the opening annoucement was one of them.

There were a lot more laser shots planned but because of the aircraft in the area, they have to shut off the lasers when they are nearby.

The seawalls and others didn't go because of the wind.

The inferno barge flame at the end was the actual burnoff so they don't have to do it later.

I shot the the test show in HDV, but have only had the camera a few days. Does anybody have an 'idiots guide' to trans code it to something I can publish?

what do you have? (software wise)
edit to add-
Mini DV tape or HDD?
I can help via pm or other as well.

Count me among those that like it much better with the Globe, and basically just because of the ending sequence. I still get goosebumps seeing the globe open and the torch light. I really hope it is still there in April when I am taking some first-timers to the world!!
