Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Refurb in October?

Again, as many have said in this thread, they do what they can to schedule things out in advance. Sometimes it just isn't possible. It's also to be expected in the fall there will be a burst of refurbs. Coming out of the summer, they get a little more breathing room and can get hours to inspect tracks. Based on those results they usually try to squeeze things in without throwing a wrench into thanksgiving and christmas timeframe.

Another problem is Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is also down during this time - so what roller coasters does this leave for visitors? Expedition Everest? Space Mountain? Is that all?

I'm not letting this ruin my vacation, but it's disappointing for people who have been planning a trip for several months.

So many entitled people, thinking that their vacation is so important, all refurbs should be scheduled at some other time, because not being able to ride 1 attraction will completely ruin their vacation. I can only assume that most of the people that complain about this are the park commando type of visitor, who is only interested in the attractions and nothing else. WDW is alot more than just attractions, and I wish more people would realize this. If people pulled their attention away from their phones while they are walking from one ride to the next, they might notice how beautiful each park is, how detailed the theming is and how enjoyable the atmosphere of each part of the parks is. If you want to keep dwelling on the negative, knock yourself out. I will continue to focus on the positives of my trips to WDW, like spending time in one of my favorite places on Earth with people that I love.

Everest, Space, Barnstormer, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Primeval Whirl.

But then again, I don't choose Disney for the coasters, even when they are all running. There's a better complement of coasters at my local Six Flags. Not as well-themed, of course, but a better group overall.

First world problems. If this is one of the major issues in your life, you truly lead a charmed life. So the ride is closed. You can choose one of two things. Either whine and complain that the ride is closed and let it ruin your vacation because you have been "screwed" because Disney did not make the announcement in a timely manner that met your needs. Or move on, enjoy your vacation with all the other things there are to do in the World. If you are there prior to the 27th, find a time to fit into your schedule since you are being screwed. Maybe get at HS at rope drop one morning, ride it and move on with your day even if it is at another park. We did this on our trip two weeks ago for Frozen and could get FastPasses because we booked only about 40 days out (how dare they not have FastPasses for me, I've been screwed!). Got to the International Gateway entrance at rope drop, rode Frozen with no wait, met Anna & Elsa, hooped a boat to HS and were on our first ride by 10:30. My 8 year old daughter was happy and nobody got screwed on their vacation. Move on, have fun.

I think you are jumping to a lot of assumptions on why people are upset. Not everyone feels entitled and people are allowed to feel upset when one of their favorite rides will be down with relativity short notice. Most people will let it go. But I do have to point out that your comment about how beautiful each park is and detailed theming is wrong. DHS is a construction zone with 3 worthy rides and not much else. And you must never have been to the parks in the 90's then if you feel they are amazing now. If you only want to wear rose colored glasses in life be my guest. But the rest of us are allowed to be grounded in reality and not let the pixie dust cloud are sound judgement.

So there is no beauty left at DHS?

It's not my rose coloured glasses that make me appreciate ToT - the spooky, misty grounds; the haunting music as you wend your way through crumbling, abandoned fountains and gardens; the awesome level of detail in the salon, reception area, library, and basement.

The fountain in Muppet courtyard is delightfully quirky.

The ongoing construction (however can one complain about that?!) does nothing to detract from the amazing building facades, the intricately tiled floors, the fascinating ceilings.
Go into a shop. Look up. Look down.

There is still so much beauty to appreciate at DHS, irrespective of what kind of glasses you wear.
