Please do :)
Quick question. I am thankful you post your tributes to Vimeo because my office just blocked YouTube and that means I can still watch Disney Tribute vids at work.

Can I ask why you use Vimeo? It seems a largely dead platforum with YouTube being essentially a monopoly. When I search Disney vids, every one of your tribute videos seems to be there (and no others). Do they have different requirements to post, such as being a professional? Or do you like the encoding quality more? Or something else?

There was a plan to remove it a long time ago (anyone remember the CAVE Incredibles proposal?) but I've not seen it mentioned for this project. Indeed, this project seems to reuse the GMR queue layout (before the theatre preshow room)
Not that I'm under an illusion that DHS is still studio-esque, but if they got rid of the exterior, that would totally kill the studios feel and change how Hollywood Boulevard theme.

Ages ago Vimeo offered superior quality and better recording length. Some say the quality is still better. It was suggested to me by a very kind friend of mine who helps with my little hobby. And of course today it isn't as restricted as the more popular YouTube so we use both.

Well thankfully you do because it gives me hours of content to at least listen while I work! Just watched the 1993 COP.

One of the times I recently rode it, I got to sit up front, right next to the guide/gangster. The gangster who took over the ride was a woman. As she began to get ready to steal the forbidden jewel, I told her, "Don't go!" Whether she heard, I'll never know...

It wasn't that long ago that TCM updated the ride, so I surmised then that it would be around a great deal longer. I will have to get to Disney's Hollywood Studios before closing date to say farewell to it. It's nice when I can at least say goodbye. Some attractions close so fast (Maelstrom) you don't get a chance to bid them farewell.

I was thinking of riding the Great Movie Ride last time I was at Disney's HS a few weeks ago, but the line went outside, and people were just standing there in the hot sun. I'll have to psych myself up for that, since I may not get a second chance to ride it before it closes. Make sure I wear a hat and put on sun screen.

I think i said this when it happened, but the tcm overlay was the death of the ride. The original concept was great and no disrespect to the narrator, but it was not needed.

My favorite memory actually is from my first trip to Disney world in 1994. I think it was the first ride we got on at mgm and the shooting scene where the driver gets shot, i remember crying and screaming. I had no idea it was not real. To this day, every time that scene happens I get teary eyed because its one of a few memories I have of me and my mum at the world.

This is so emotionally painful for me. I have many Great Movie Ride memories too. My favorite scene probably has to be Alien or the mummy scene where the gangster grabs the cursed treasure and the guide returns. I can't remember exactly how many times I've ridden it, but it's been a lot. Out of all of those times, I only experienced the western bank robbery once. I loved that one a whole lot more than the Public Enemy. Absolutely HATE the sponsorship with tcm. The last thing that I want to hear is robert osborne blabber about something out of one of his 7 chins.

I will be sad to see The Great Movie Ride go. MGM (DHS) is about movies, and this ride certainly paid tribute. Little did I know that May of 2015 would be the last time I would ride the ride. I always enjoyed the que as well as it brought back memories of some great movies I watched as a kid, many that were made before my time. I loved sharing an explanation with my daughter regarding those movies, some of which she has now seen and loved. Classics.

This is sad, but hardly a surprise. The rumor of its closure started years ago.

I will miss TGMR. It was one of a kind. But over the years it was no longer a priority for my family to watch, since the scenes were never updated or changed. Broken things stayed broken (the Footlight Parade spinning platform), and slapdash scenes (the Fantasia sequence before Wizard of Oz) were never properly finished).

I've always loved the animatronic dioramas of Disney like Horizons and World of Motion and TGMR. But these types of attractions are expensive to create and maintain, and unless the format is paired with a thrill element, they're not "gatebusters." I predict we won't see new attractions in the style of these classics until Disney creates a fifth gate (but I'm not holding my breath).

The GMR has been one of my favorites ever since I started going to WDW shortly after MGM opened. I rode it at least once on every visit. I'm glad I got one final ride this past June. It was one of those original rides that will now join so many others in Disney's discarded dust bin. At least I will always have plenty of pictures, they can't take those from me. Disney, you could have built your mouse ride somewhere else.

I'm surprised it's closing so soon . With the state of DHS after Aug. 13 it leaves 4 rides left in the park for at least a year. Wonder if they have any special closing events planned like dinner inside the GMR after the final tram, bet Disney could charge whatever they wanted and it would be sold out in minutes.
