Riding with.....Glasses.

Hey everyone, I decided to start this thread because I have these annoying pieces of glass in front of my eyes, my glasses. Out of curiosity who actually rides with there prescription glasses not sunglasses, prescript ed lenses to see.

On my first trip to WDW I had no guts what so ever to wear my glasses on Test Track, Space Mountain, Expedition Everest and other attractions (Skipped ToT and RRC) During my second trip this month I finally gained the guts to wear them on Test Track and let me tell you what a difference. My eyes are terrible and without them on my first trip all the rides that I took them off on were just BLAH. Test Track seemed like a whole completely different ride and it was the best thing I ever did.

Well, I did not have enough courage to wear them on ToT, Space Mountain, Expedition Everest or Splash Mountain which I regret. Last year I somehow road Expedition Everest AT LEAST 6 times, Space Mountain at least 6 also etc. Each time yes it was fun, but I could barely see anything going on.

On my next trip I will not wear my glasses on Rock'n Roller Coaster just because of the loop/corkscrews but, maybe for ToT, Space Mountain and Splash Mountain should be fine.

What do you guys think? Has anyone everyone gone through this type of issue? Any advice would be much appreciated I just hate going on these great rides and seeing nothing but blobs :(

P.S. Tried contacts - Can't put them in, won't put them in, not in the equation lol.

I've ridden with my glasses on all the attractions except RnRC. Thankfully my eyes aren't that terrible where it makes or breaks my experience without them on. I'm a contact wearer now though, so I don't worry about it anymore thankfuly.

I can only speak for myself, but I've been wearing glasses since kindergarten, have made dozens of trips to Disney in a lifetime, and I honestly can't think of a single ride I remove my glasses for.

When I go to Six Flags, I feel a little more nervous about keeping them on (I will sometimes reach up and grab a stem just to "hold" them in place) because the roller coasters there are much more intense.

I honestly don't think any of the rides you listed are concerns. The motion just isn't "wild" enough. I can see being worried on RnRC because of the inversions, but again, I've never had a problem with them.

I'm a worrier, so I didn't wear mine on Space Mountain. RnR was closed when I last went so I don't know for sure, but as a rule, if there are loops I would take my glasses off.
However, I did wear them on ToT, no problem there. But when I went to Universal, I took them off for Dr Doom or whatever that ride is called. I also took them off for Hulk and Dragon Challenge.
If I feel them coming loose on any other ride, I'd just hold them.
I've worn mine since I was 6 and like you, I could never use contacts. Full stop. Maybe laser eye surgery is the way to go...but I digress...

I've left mine on for everything I've ridden including RnRC, ToT, Everest, and the California Screamin' at DCA.

Mine are little snug, so I rarely have issues with them sliding/falling off, etc...

I've worn glasses all my life. The only thing I've taken them off for is Expedition Everest. It's the whole going backwards thing for me. Afraid they'll get pulled off with the wind. Going forwards or upside down is not a problem.

I wear glasses all day every day...never have taken them off for one ride at WDW

If you a worrier bring an old/spare pair just in case.

What about one of those glasses holder on- er thingys? (I believe that is the technical term. :D)

You know, not the old lady kind, but the kind those preppy college guys wear to hang their sunglasses around their necks? (before the whole - "I'll just hang my sunglasses around my neck backwards" thing became popular) With the adjustable straps? Maybe that would give you an extra bit of security?

Good luck! :)

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one that had this problem or has glasses and goes on the rides with them. Next years trip I will be wearing glasses on all the rides maybe except RnR I'll just ride it once without glasses and if I feel comfortable enough I'll go with my glasses on.

The thing I really need to get over is being able to let go of the ToT seat belts or the lap bars of the rides I get sometimes too scared but it's going to have to happen eventually. That being said If I were to feel them coming loose I wonder if I would actually hold onto them or be too afraid. That whole laser eye surgery thing, though it would be nice I still don't think I would go through with it I've heard good and bad about it.

Thanks for all the advice guys, luckily next year I will be able to get a second pair of glasses so I can have the ones now to wear on the rides. I'm really excited for next years trip, just to see the details in the rides and especially how high I am during Expedition Everest and Tower of Terror.

I keep my glasses on for everything, and I've never had a problem. I even wear the 3D glasses over my eyeglasses during shows. It looks way stupid, but I'm having a blast so I couldn't care less.

I do that too, I find it funny when I go to a local theater 3D movie the glasses fit horribly and seems like they're just for people with no glasses. My first trip to Disney last year I was upset before I entered Muppet's 3D until I put the 3D glasses on, they seem like they're made to fit comfortably for people that wear glasses or is it just me?

Just got back from the World and I wore my glasses on every ride I went on (including RnRR, TOT, and Everest.) Never had a problem with them slipping.

You must've had fun, being able to see and all  It stinks I see all these pictures and videos online of ToT and the ghosts before you drop and stuff, yeah I noticed they were there but they were a blob of blue shimmering goop lol. Next year is going to be the best year besides my first visit in 2010. Thanks everyone!

I rarely wear my glasses *shush* but, for me, it would depend on how my the rid knocks around and what's around my head. If there's shoulder restraints and ALOT of side to side bumping around, I'd remove them. Just simple inversions? I wouldn't remove my good fitting ones. I have a pair that falls off if I tilt my head slightly. I wouldn't take those anywhere. My plastic ones fit great. I would. Ride like Dinosaur? I'd be fine if they fit well

3D always fits me badly, regardless of glasses on and off. The ones at the theatres, though, aren't so bad.

I wear my sunglasses on every ride that is outdoors, and I just use one of those straps that secure it around your head. It doesn't really even need to be that tight, and honestly when you tighten it too much the glasses fog if its hot. But, it keeps them snug enough to wear on any ride I've encountered and I've worn them at places like Cedar Point, Kings Dominion, and Kings Island where the rides are much more intense than Disney or Universal's offerings...nowhere near as cool theming though :)
