Sorry folks but most people just aren't considerate of others these days. For every 1 person that will sit cross legged to take up the least amount of space, there are 10 that will spread out like it's central park for an afternoon nap. For every 1 person that chooses to sit and is okay if others standing might "block" their view, there are 10 that will complain and get nasty that people need to quit being rude and sit so everyone (meaning them) can see. For every 1 family that will move to the end of a row before sitting, there is another that will stop in the middle because they want the "best seats". Too many people come to the parks with this entitlement mentality and if rules don't suit them, they just break them.
I have to laugh a little at the "why did they put grass if we aren't allowed to sit" argument. As others have said and many pictures have been posted, many people do sit and relax throughout the day. And if Disney had poured concrete in lieu of grass ... well there would be 20 more threads started about how the hub is nothing but a concrete jungle.
If someone wants to sit, and have a nice view of Wishes, there are many benches that can be claimed early, or a spot on a curb before/after a parade.
OK, the REAL reason that you are asked to stand is really quite simple...and goes unmentioned. Gas. That's right; when you sit and pass gas, it gets trapped in the fake grass thus causing either a potential meltdown of the grass (depending on recent intake) or, at the very least a large release at the end of the show when 'all rise'.
Now, if you stand and 'release' - the cloud is dispersed and there's no risk of 'fake grass gas passed' melting. Thanks in advance for your cooperation in matters of our mutual concern.
Don't even ask about Fastpass gas passed melting the fake grass.
No "butts" about it!Transitions very nicely into the real reason smoking has been banned. Too many butts would ignite thousands of butts !
These face toward the castle.Um, where are you finding these benches? And if you're talking about the built-in walls, keep in mind that most of them face away from the castle.
And our culture is all about who we can Usenet... Sitting would be a terrible ideaThe Japanese respect each other... South, Central, North Americans not so much. It's all about culture.
Or maybe they made it grass because, I don't know, it looks better? And the grass.. it obviously was made to sit on.. or they would have used cement if it was just a standing area.
