My ride is actually pretty decent with very little stop and go. The new banked 90 degree curve on Haines st would be especially fun.;)

"And today in Jacksonville.... A Florida man in his 40s took a former race car into a curve and went flying into the St. John's River. Witnesses say all they heard was a scream of "Utinni" and then a splash. The man was later rescued, unharmed"

Ive been looking for this thread! Sheesh.

Anyways, large construction vehicles were spotted by the Speedway the other day. Looks like demolition should start soon.

Somewhere.... @danlb_2000 has the plans and permits for this project.

I'm going to be picky ... the Mickey icon/pond needs a bit of cleaning up in real life: In google earth it looks like they have it covered with that green algae stuff that prevents mosquito from breeding (good) but ends up looking like swamp as it's only on the ears and smudged about the face area.

I'm surprised we haven't heard about the new Richard Petty Demolition Dessert Party Experience yet. On select nights, you'll be able to enjoy Chocolate Cupcakes shaped like tires, Hard-Hat Crispy Treats, Yellow C.A.T. Panna Cotta and enjoy a Hard Apple Cider while sitting inside the scoop of a front end loader. As a special takeaway, guests will each get heir very own one inch square of asphalt. This limited time experience will be available for just $149 per adult, and $129 per child. (ahhh never mind … I'm just a bit cranky before I get my first coffee in the morning.)

You joke, but several NASCAR tracks have allowed visitors to purchase small pieces of the former pavement when they've been resurfaced.

This is more of a thing than you think. When they refurbished Talladega Super Speedway here, they even sold off the seats in sections of 4 as well as squares of the tarmac. The place I get my tires has a set of seats sitting out front so you can sit and wait.

So happy the marathon won't be running through there this January. Fun seeing all the cars but those slopes were just too rough on the legs.
