Trip Report Return of the Noob......Fuzzy Memories part 2? Now Playing.

I know this is really delayed but I finally have my pics uploaded and soon enough this will begin. Just have been so worn out form work and trying to do projects and running to after school stuff not much time to just sit down and relax. Let alone try to compile 2000+ pics and videos. This TR will rely more on pics than video just because my upload speed is so slow.

We are finally back on 'Merican soil getting the kids jazzed to see the show. I wish we would have heard the Voices of Liberty. But we were just waiting for the American Adventure to start. We considered this their school lesson to makeup for the time we took them out of school this week.
DSC00627 by Uncle Lupe, on Flickr

Fail!!
DSC00629 by Uncle Lupe, on Flickr

So the kids liked the show for a few minutes. Jordynn lasted about 5 minutes Allison near 10. They have learned a little about George Washington and the revolution. Then it was questions of, "How long is this? When are we going to eat? I'm bored. Can we leave?"

"I don't know, we will eat after this show, take a nap." Were our various reply's. We liked the show as adults. Your cool, seated and entertained. I just wonder how it works with those sets all popping up around each other in the same spots? Now it was time to find some food and where better place to stretch the taste buds at Epcot??? You guessed it The Liberty Inn.

This was a quick service restaurant that was accommodating to everyone. I saw an interesting menu option so I ordered the Surf and Turf. Yeah you just read that right I got shrimp and streak on the quick serve dining plan. Mind blown.
DSC00630 by Uncle Lupe, on Flickr

My official notes say, "it was good for a quick service steak." It is a thin but cooked nicely and had flavor. Of course you need that steak dipping sauce for the real American experience. This place is enclosed but very open air feeling. A nice place to eat at our halfway point.

I am Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so.

Mitsukoshi was a place you can spend some time shopping. It doesn't hurt that our kids are playing with all these toys and candy inspired from Japan at the malls. Allison was showing me things that she knows about here that I had no clue what it even was. But what I did know about was this.
0920171544 by Uncle Lupe, on Flickr

This was something we had committed to doing for the last 6 years and it was finally going to happen. So I ordered 3 total so Katie and the girls would have a unique experience.

The wait was 30 minutes but that was easy time to kill in this store. It was kinda a maze how it wraps and opens into different sections and I lost everybody in there a few times.

The phonetics of this amused me.

Day 5 Epcot cont:

We have been waiting in this shop for the 30 minutes when they finally call our number. Now all eyes are on us as we step up to the postion of honor. Each girls picks her own oyster to be dispatched carefully. I think I was just as excited as they were. My heart was beating heavy to see what we would get. All three are opened to much fanfare and drums. It definitely draws a crowd, some waiting their turn others just watching in spectacle.

Allie gets a white pearl and Jordynn gets a pinkish one both are good size, 7.25mm. Katie was the best of all three. Hers was a huge white pearl 8.25mm. That is not the end now you can have this put into a setting for a separate fee. Katie had hers put in a carriage pendant becasuse it was so big. The girls had theirs put on a regular pendant style for a necklace.

Step into my shoes and experience it for yourself. Ignore the opening title. This was one of the first videos I used trying to figure out the software.

This is something that I would do again. It was a fun experience all around as long as your not an oyster.
I think each oyster was $20 a piece, our carriage setting was $80-$100. It take an hour or longer to get the pearls ready so we kept on truckin' to Morocco.
DSC00634 by Uncle Lupe, on Flickr

It took some wandering and asking but we found where the Jasmine meet and greet began. This part of Morocco was a ways from the World Showcase main drag and was a calm setting.

After meting Jasmine we head back to Japan to pickup our necklaces we had made and on the way we see a performer. Ironically she is wearing what would be described as Jasmines old outfit. It was fun to watch and she could have been an OSU drum major.

We also meet a few ladies outside doing origami to give to kids. I tried to get the girls to say kon'nichiwa but that didn't work. Getting them to interact with a stranger is hard enough without throwing some crazy sounding word at them also.

On to France.

DSC00655 by Uncle Lupe, on Flickr

DSC00656 by Uncle Lupe, on Flickr

I took 2 years of french in school and I had been brushing up just in case I thought brave enough to try just some basic phrases. I had also been waiting to try this slush for 6 years. I found the cart and just studied the drink menu and saw that my slush was going to be $18!!! That was insane $18? "I'm not paying that." The cheapskate in me couldn't justify paying that for one drink. Found out on the last day that I could have bought a bottle of Capt Morgan at All Star Sports for $16.

I just bought an entire bottle of Grand Marnier for $36 and I am going to make them at home my next day off work.

Only note I have about France was the price of that drink. Nothing for the children here so we pressed foward.

This entire time I was still holding a FP for Soarin' and kept juggling the other one which is for Imagination. The Imagination one was not needed but it is still fun to use a Magic Band. So I had to keep pushing it back throughout the day which was an easy task.

DSC00657 by Uncle Lupe, on Flickr

Never been around World Stage and I didn't have my bearing until I saw this.
DSC00658 by Uncle Lupe, on Flickr

Cool! So that's where that is located. Being food and wine they had a kiosk also but we didn't stop for food. Put away the pitchforks.

Plus the line was very long and we had more stuff to do today. If Allison ever expands her pallet I want to take her to nicer restaurants. But for now I pick my battles.

How thoughtful a duck ramp.
DSC00659 by Uncle Lupe, on Flickr

I also took a moment to peer across the lagoon and could see and hear that Test Track was not operating. But it was time for our Soarin' FP. So let's go!

Just need to get a quick refreshment for Katie. Luck would have it we get her brothers name on the bottle. Random.

While in line the girls makeup a dance to entertain each other. You'll see a glimpse of what our waits were like for 8 days shortly.

As we are escorted to the waiting area we are located in section B. I knew that was good but couldn't remember what row was the front. Luck would have it we were in the front center. Yeah! baby!

$18?? Ours was only $10.95 last week. I say only like that's not expensive. geesh.. it was our one big drink splurge! It was so good!
Maybe I read the board wrong but my notes say $18. Is there a souvenir cup? I remember that price point and thinking no way. I'm a liquor guy. Hate beer. So we have a lot of stuff at home to make mixed drinks.

This was my mother's day drink at Katies dinner last night from the local steak house $8.95. This is more my ballpark as far as value. I know theme park markup and captive audience but come on.

So I need to do some house cleaning in this TR. The pictures uploaded with Soarin' being done first after our trip round the WS. According to video and notes it was Imagination. Noob mistake. Read the entire paragraph of notes before writing for the day. This keeps us from back tracking again.

After leaving WS we see them setting up some special places for Food and Wine. Whatever, we just keep walking and stopping at Imagination to use our FP.

I know that this ride gets a lot of hate but it wasn't horrible. I do not remember riding it as a kid but we enjoyed this and I wondered why you would need to remove a hat on this ride? Well I found out in the end scene when you are blinded and blasted with air and big set set is revealed with Figment.

We played in the pavilion for a while exploring and finding some unusual PhotoPass opportunities.

They had these photo booths off to the side that you could play with for free. These were being completely ignored by guests. Why pay all this money to get here for vacation to pay more for grainy pictures in a photobooth? I pulled back the curtain and see a Mickey Magic Band tap spot. You could pay to have pictures printed or unexpectedly you could tap your Magic Band and have them sent to your account, score. We all had some fun here.

My eyes are closed. Maybe I should rename this TR to: **** open your eyes!

We also were able to catch the last showing of the day for the Pixar Short Film Fest. This was neat. I have seen these shorts but not in 4-D. Definitely worth watching with kids or no kids. If nothing else it's a good way to beat the heat. I think everyone can enjoy this if guests just give it a try.

Now play with us at or in Imagination. We make music and I make a figment to email to myself. I am still waiting for that email by the way. With the music constantly playing I am unconsciously singing while making my Figment. Next, we ride Soarin' and are entertained by the dynamic duo dance team while we wait. This gives a glimpse of what our line waits were like all week with these two feeding off each other.

OK so now we are back to Soarin' It was great to be in the top middle section. I was giddy at as we waited for final clearance and again this ride did not disappoint. Everybody loved it. The score still gives me chills.

After Soarin' and Imagination it is getting very late in the day and we had to make a plan. I checked to see that Test Track was running but with a large wait time as people are trying to get those last rides or first of the day.

We stroll east and decide to stop and see a few more characters for a change. :D

When we leave the character spot I check the app again and Test Track is still running but with a 65 minute wait time. We walk that way just to check but after a long day and successfully taking the kids around World Showcase we call it a day. I never thought that we would get to do this as adults with kids and it was so much fun. We didn't explore the countries as much as I would have liked but it was a fun day indeed.

Not taking Allie on Test Track was the only disappointment. We have spent 1.5 days in this park and never got to ride. :arghh:

Great trip report. Just got caught up. I don't remember what I paid for the Grand Marnier last month, but I don't think it was $18. I tend to think they usually run about $14 and that still catches me off guard. But I usually just say what they hey and get one anyways.

I've done some digging and it appears that I looked at the slush with the extra shot of liquor for $15.96. So not $18 but the regular is just under $10. Extra liquor is what I like but at the moment it was sticker shock. I have updated my notes accordingly.

Step into the world of Inside Out where we meet Joy and Sadness. Next Baymax greets us as best that he can. Then I take one last look at Spaceship Earth.

With the Test Track a no go we are heading out of the park but not before stopping in Mouse Gear. I know we are here about a month before the 35th anniversary but I was hoping to find special merch. When we entered I split off to do a quick search to see what I could find. I make a few quick laps scanning the store with no luck. Dejected that nothing has caught my eye I start to look for Katie when I run across a small display in the middle of the store.

This display was filled with 35th anniversary merchandise! With mugs, shirts and things in orange or purple before me I scan for the one item I had seen online, nothing. The other side was filled with shirts and something so amazing that I have to buy it no matter the price.

A visor. I had found a new visor to replace the one I lost a few days ago. This was the only item that I was specifically looking for on this vacation. I had made it my mission to find this visor so it was a special find indeed. I was wanting to add to my collection of hats not replace but helped ease the pain.

At the time I was on the fence about that sweet shirt to the left. I didn't want to go crazy and buy everything just because it was there but I think I am going to order one soon.

I was very happy but I did stop by guest services to check to see if my Reds visor was found. I was told that if it was it had been moved to central Lost and Found and I should call that number. After a long day in Epcot we finally leave the park. Lets get a few pics to go.
