Restaurants at Animal Kingdom Lodge??

My group would love to eat at one of the restaurants in Animal Kingdom Lodge but I have a problem with spicy food so I’m a little afraid of the choices on the menus. Any suggestions on something that I can eat that won’t keep me from enjoying the rest of the evening at the parks? One more thing just to make it difficult I don’t care for fish.

Even Sanaa, which probably has the spiciest menu of the 3, has some mild options. Boma should be really easy, as the carved meat and side dishes aren't all that spicy from what I remember. I second going to whatever sounds best to you and asking your server for a mild suggestion and you should be fine.

Boma is great! There is so many options, all of the meat are served on the buffet without any sauce on them, the sauces are I dishes on the side for you to add! They have various salads, breads, vegetables and soups- many of which are not "spicy" as in hot, they are defiantly flavourful tho! There is also always mac and cheese and chicken fingers if you can't find anything, but I have a hard time believing that someone can't find many other things to eat :)

Boma is a great buffet, for breakfast or dinner. It has something for everyone.
That said, there is plenty on the menu at Jiko or Sanaa that is not very spicy. The server is there to steer you away from spicy dishes, too.
You should be fine at any of the three places.

But if you want to just walk around the resort, stroll and look at the animals on the savannahs, not feel locked into an "exotic" table service (they're not as exotic as they look!), there's always the Mara, quick service at Jambo house. That's pretty much a typical quick service, with most of the usual resort QS options. Mara is not as amazing as the 3 table service, but to me it's far better than a some resorts' table service, if you can believe it (looking at you, Turf Club, Olivia's, GF Cafe, etc.)! And you're free to arrive anytime.

Boma, in my opinion wasn't very good. The choices are weird. I also do not like spicy food and there wasn't many things there that I enjoyed. Wasn't worth that buffet price when my whole family wasn't up to eating anything of the things offered.

Boma is one of my favorite restaurants on property! I have a peanut allergy and don't much like spicy food and never had issues with their dishes. The chefs and servers are very informative and accommodating. The Mara next door offers quick-service options for some of Boma's most popular dishes! I personally enjoy the soups and desserts. I don't remember anything spicy, or much seafood, for that matter. Most of the options are land dishes.

Due to the nature of the choices, I would highly recommend looking at their menus on line. With that said, Boma is a dont miss for us every trip. We are also doing Sanaa this trip.

One person's spicy is another person's just right and another person's bland. Having written that, go to Boma. It's not that spicy, some flavors might be unconventional to your palate but not crazy. When it comes to meats or fish from the carving board, most spice would be on the outside, so just eat the middles or remove chicken skin, stuff like that. Most soups and salads are not spicy. And if all else fails there are the kids' options, comparable to most kids' buffet options, chicken tenders, fries, mac and cheese, etc. You won't go hungry.

I think Boma offers a pretty wide selection and you'd probably find several things there to enjoy. Personally, I much MUCH prefer Sanaa and know that there are a number of non-spicy options on their menu. People get scared off because they see that things are "curried," but it's a preparation and not spicing when they use this term for the dishes. They'll also walk you through the menu to ensure you're not going for anything hot- that is, if you need them to. The atmosphere at Sanaa is also great- love having a window seat at lunch.

I agree with you. I have dined at BOMA for both breakfast and dinner. Breakfast has a slight edge of dinner (excluding the hair I found in my eggs). Dinner is ok - I would not go into it expecting too much. I think it is worth a chance once but there is no repeat value for me.

Bomas is a buffet and has a little of everything, not everything there is spicy. You can always ask your server how spicy something is. The menus can be found on Disney's website. I don't care for spice to much either and I have never had a problem eating at Bomas or Jinkos.
This ^^^^ very good advice. My family is not a fan of spicy food, and my son cant stand seafood. Even hates when we order shrimp or lobster and we all LOVE Boma. Jikos is very good as well, but with Boma, there is lots of very mild spiced foods to try as well as standard buffet fare. Boma may be your best bet.

after reading the replies and talking with my sister she still doesn't want to take a chance at any of the restaurants at Animal Kingdom. Instead she wants to eat in Epcot in France, so I said where and her response was the one with all the windows on the ground floor. She wants to people watch while we eat. Guess I shouldn't complain at least she is willing to try someplace we haven't been to yet.

Love Boma and Sanaa. We're doing both on our next trip in Oct. Sanaa for our first night's dinner and Boma for our last morning's brunch.

When I go with less adventurous eaters I suggest start by picking a protein you know you like then look at the set up (what it comes with). If there's something in the set up that you know you absolutely hate no matter what, like for me hot spinach I just hate, I'll ask them to hold it or ask for a set up from an alternate dish (this is often the easiest change for them to make). Just remember some things they may not be able to hold just because it's prepared ahead of time. And last if you totally hate the entree there's always dessert and you can grab a burger or something later if needed. Jiko has become one of our favorite places to eat but if you're still not sure consider boma. A buffet can be a good way to try lots of different things.
