Hey all!

Quick question...or clarification really. Is there a difference between the mugs you get at the resort or at the parks? Are only the resort mugs refillable? I am asking because I am confused by the language that I have read in travel books, and in the dining plan. Any clarification would be great! Thanks so much!!!

Resort mugs can only be filled at your hotel and only for the length of your stay. Park specific mugs (and not all parks have them, that I'm aware of) can only be used that day at the park. ie: the refillable mug at Blizzard Beach is only good for that visit.

The only parks that have refillable mugs are the water parks, and they are good for only one day I believe. The resort mugs cannot be used for free refills at the parks, only at the resorts themselves.

Edit: I think AK might have had refillables at one time (with huge animal heads on them?) I think I remember them from years ago, but I'm not sure that they still have them.

Thanks!

So it seems to me that it might not be worth it. For $12 a mug, and only refillable at the resorts, I don't drink enough soda. That answers that question for me! :ROFLOL: Thanks again!!

You can also get coffee and some juices with them too if that helps.

How long will you be in WDW? We buy 4 mugs (me DH & 2 DD's) and have at least 2 drinks apiece each visit. That is coffee/tea/juice in the mornings, soda at lunch or snack time and another visit after the parks... that is at least 6 drinks per person per day. At around $2 per drink (give or take) that adds up quickly.

Thanks tigsmom! Great breakdown of info. I think that since it is just DH and I, it might not be worth it...but when we have the kiddies, I could see how it is definitely a savings! Thanks so much!!

resort mugs imo are a must

I think getting the resort mugs are definatly a must. the price of drinks adds up quick. And to add to the park mugs yes the waterparks are the only ones right now that are refillable. At one time Animal Kingdom had the ones with the big animal heads but they no longer do that. =[

Yep. AK did have them I have one that has an elephant head on it. I'm also not sure if they still have them. I also have one old one from Epcot that is in the shape of SSE. I am not sure but I think that one might have been refillable as well.

We bought one at Blizzard Beach a couple of years ago when we were down there and my wife and I just shared it between the two of us since neither of us is huge a pop drinker. Not to mention we got a nice souvenir mug for home that us or the kids still use on an almost daily basis. :p

Now at the resort we will get 4 mugs for all of us obviously because we all will end up drinking enough to make them worth our while. The kids love the slushies at Pop and me and my wife usually will get lemonade; or hot chocolate at night when we get back from the parks and there is a chill in the March air.

I didn't think we would get them b/c I figured we wouldn't be at the resort that much to make use of them - but after all this - I think we'll have to!!! I love the hot chocolate - no matter how hot it is!!!

I noticed this year that several resorts had the same mug. Anyone else? Perhaps all have the same mugs now. I also noticed this year, the year 2008 was not printed on the mugs. We purchase mugs each time we're there, I have tons!, and all are different. Different colors, etc. This year's mug and last year's mug are identical except for the year printed on them. Last year said 2007, this year nothing. I have always notice alot of people bringing older mugs and using them while at the resort. Obviously not wanting to purchase new ones. It seems Disney is trying to save money and have one mug made for all resorts. Isn't this going to encourage many to just bring the same mug each visit and reusing it?.......hmmmmmmmm :veryconfu

Everyone has the same mugs except for the Coronado Springs Resort...they have their own mug and this is because the Pepper Market is NOT owned by Disney.

We were there in April. They had several drinking bottles with different animals on top. I do not remember what they cost (I think it was $6 for the glass + large soda = $10). It was refillable in AK for free or for $1 I think. If we were going to be there for more than about 4 hours, I would have bought one. They were nice and a good little souvenir.

If I am staying at Sports and buy a refillable mug.. can I use that mug at Pop, Music, Movies? How can they tell the difference? Has anyone used their resort mugs at other resorts?
