Resort Mugs

Can you use your mugs from previous years or do you have to buy new mugs each year? I always buy new mugs because I thought that was the rule but a CM told me that you can reuse them so does anyone know the official rule?

Yeah, times are hard, but they are NEVER that bad.

Let's think about this - Hmmm....

Life can't be too bad for you - you're visiting the World. And you spent $10 on paper cups anyway - you could've bought a mug for that!

For my final thought....perhaps this is the behavior that has made Disney be so harsh about the mugs in the 1st place.

Ya think?

We did not buy the mugs our first trip, now I wish we had ( I wished that before we left to go home, too). I just read on another thread that the mugs can also be used on the cruise ships. Is this true?

We are planning on cruising in March and will definitely be purchasing them this time around, but what a bonus if they can be used on board too!!

I've seen people at the All-Star resorts using mugs from other resorts and attractions, I've seen people use soggy paper cups over and over, I've seen people put baby bottles under the soda fountains, I've seen people use old Starbucks coffee cups, I've even seen people use the room ice bucket, and not one of these people was told to stop and buy a (new) mug. I'd bet you are safe, too!!! Happy drinking!!!

I have seen people at the All-Star Resorts using mugs from other resorts and attractions, I've seen people use soggy old paper cups over and over, I've seen people get soda from the fountains in baby bottles and Starbucks coffee cups, and I've even seen one woman fill up her room ice bucket with ice and orange soda and take it to the pool, and not one of these people was told to go and buy a (new) mug. I'm sure you will be okay, too!!! Happ drinking!!!

I don't know why anybody wouldn't WANT to buy new mugs when they go! They all have such cute little scenes or nice coloful logos on them... My brother fills his that he bought there with water every night and leaves it by his bed... They're reusable, and FUN!!:)

..........you see.. that was the point of my story. that i wound up spending 10.00 on paper cups (lighten up smarty pants) but heres where your not so bright... my anwser to the orginal question was BUY A MUG cause you may end up spending 10.00 as i did on paper. i wasn't aware that some folks put so much thought into the disney mugs.
and you sure take things very literally!
"times are hard" was just an expression.... and of course there not too hard cause your right i am visiting once a year. "cutting corners" (which i also mentioned) best describes me. also i should have mentioned that i have bought the refillable cups 4 times in the past and no i do not want to pack them.

so heres my final thought....perhaps you and disney should team up and form the mug police so you can crack down on such violent offenders such as me. did they change the rules because of me? if so feel free to confiscate my past collection for your future enjoyment.:p

Actually I agree with Cymbal only when I think she is correct. As far as the mugs, I had read on these boards that Disney was actually experimenting with a barcode system to activate the soda machines. The mugs would contain a barcode good for the length of stay and the paper cups would be good for the one time only!!! This would probably be in direct response to people abusing a good thing!!! This is the way of things. I usually tend to buy a mug in most cases, and I have recommended them to other people as well.
As far as lightening up, this is a posting board of opinions. We generally dont jump on anyone else for their opinion, but we do feel free to express ours. If you are uncomfortable with that concept, dont post the question!! Belle

Heres the thing WANNABE... i didnt post the mug question, i was responding to it. and once again ( i will try and explain so you may understand) what my little story was getting at was BUY THE MUG, or you may end up slending alot more.
i didnt JUMP on anyones opinion i am simply responding to the comments left for me by CYMBAL and her fan club. i am in no way uncomfortable with the posting board concept or opinions left by others. also i dont remember telling you lighten up however maybe you should .....we are talking about mugs right?:lookaroun

Good Idea Wayne!!! Wisk, I happen to agree with the buy the mug concept, and yes the last time I looked we were discussing mugs. As far as a fan club for Cymbal or anyone else on the boards, isnt that in part what this is about?? I have and will continue to help and support anyone on the boards who asks me for help. If someone asks where is the best place to eat breakfast for example, I would certainly give them my opinion on the matter. Cymbal and I have chatted ona bunch of topics in the past and we seem to agree on many points. If that is being a fan club, so be it. I call it being friends, but I guess essentially it is the same thing. Belle

As for us we always buy new mugs for 2 reasons, one is we couldn't fit them into our bags we always have too much stuff when we leave the resorts ! Second i always thought they were for lenght of stay as well and well worth the money ! :)
