I've suggested that "Discoveryland" would be better suited as a concept for Epcot's Future World. I also think Discoveryland is a relatively lazy name but obviously works better in Magic Kingdom vs. Epcot (strictly from a name standpoint). For Epcot, I prefer the name "Discovery Expo".
Or maybe they can keep Tomorrowland, demo the Speedway, and build a NEW land titled Discoveryland in that plot and the expansion pad. Give us a new 20,000 Leagues (ala Tokyo) and maybe a few other Verne-esque styled attractions... I think it would be a great opportunity to better mesh the transition zone between the lands.

Whadya mean by "keep Tomorrowland"? People have be grousing for a long time there's little "Tomorrow" in Tomorrowland. Like Future World in Epcot, tomorrow and the future keep catching up to today and you have to revamp all your attractions to stay futuristic. Disney has shown little capability or desire to do so.

If you do something Verne-esque, that's not Tommorowland. That's steam punk or... Age of Discovery and you're back to Discovery Land. :)

I wouldn't mind keeping "Tomorrowland" as the catch-all name... it's just as fitting and catch-all as "Discovery Land." The land was originally a combination of 50's Sci-Fi, Space Age, leading edge of technology, and futurism all rolled up into one. Then when Future Wand showed up to take over some of those areas and both places fell behind the times... they're both a thematic mess.

I should add there were a few supports (like the ones you highlighted) that were stripped back to the steel;

In the background you can also see some of the original supports that were simply painted.

Mysterious Island confirmed for Magic Kingdom. Holy crap that would be an amazing transition between Fantasyland and Tomorrowland.

True, but didn't they rename that section of AK after the actual Ft. Wilderness area attraction has closed for good? I don't believe both Discovery Islands excited (in name) as functional entities at the same time. I'd be a little more okay if they wanted to call Tomorrowland "Discoveryland" if they opted to rename AK's Discovery Island.
They also moved some of the animals from the island to DAK

So have insiders confirmed these are closing? Still rumored to be some kind of Tron ride?

Besides Stitch going and CoP and SM staying (they got new paints and lights!), nothing is certain. Insiders say there are still competing plans and the final scheme of attractions has not been greenlit.

The original 1971-1975 Tomorrowland was really beautiful. Epic scale and architecture...forward thinking...if only they could have gotten those waterfalls to work better...seerms like nowadays they could without a problem...like the water walls at the Aria. The re-do in the 90s was fun...but nothing looked as great as that clean sleek vision of the future!
