I completely understand. I have some in my family that get it, my brother-in-law's family goes every year. My mom gets it, but my sister and sister-in-law don't. They keep asking when are you going to go some place else. This is coming from two people with no kids, both who financially can go anywhere they want and yet my sister-in-law and brother haven't been on a vacation probably since their honeymoon in 2002. I hate trying to explain to them that we love it there and for a family with now three kids (11, 8 and 1) I can't beat the price or the experiences we have in Disney. I have had many people say why don't you rent a house at a beach and relax, Disney isn't relaxing. Well to me, renting a house means keeping a house in order, cooking (yes you can go out), and trying to constantly find something to entertain my 3 kids, isn't relaxing. I also grew up at the shore and I HATE the sand. I took my 1 year old once this summer and it was a complete nightmare. The stress of the waves and the undercurrent with my two older children that never want to come out of the water, was very stressful. Plus being from the shore area I know how much it costs to rent a house, pay for food, and daily entertainment can be, it is not cheap.
As others have said everyone is different and enjoys different things, to each their own. But I do get a little ticked when people question our yearly trips to Disney, especially since many of them have never been.
