Does your family think you're crazy?

We're going with my inlaws this year (we took my MIL last year, but FIL wants to go this time). However, my parents/grandparents, all think we're totally nuts for going again this year.

I wonder what they'll say about next years trip....hehehe

Not anymore. At first (2009) I would get the "You're going again?!" response, but as time went on we kept going and the responses are now more like "Lucky you!" So they've either seen the light (i.e. photos from our trip have convinced them) or they are secretly judging us but just not saying anything...;)

The most recent comment I got was from my boss..."Doesn't seem like a fun place unless you're a little kid." I just bit my tongue because 1.) I don't think he was trying to be mean, just genuinely curious, 2.) He's my BOSS, so...yeah, and 3.) He gets his kicks going to comic conventions! :D As has been said here before, everyone has their thing that makes them happy. This is mine (and my husband's, to a lesser extent).

Well Disney Land will be cool especially with the new Carsland. Adventures by disney in Ireland will be outstanding!! I have never been abroad and that is a dream of mine. You will have to call Crush when you go!

I had to go a period of not going for two years and it was painful but when I got back it was a glorious feeling. I know that doesn't help but just know the pain does ease when you get back!!

Super structures are my specialty!
The term that i often get hit with is "Disney Drunk." I am happily full of pixie dust and look forward to the next trip even more than the last. With proper planning and the ability to let your guard down so you can fully embrace the magic it can be the happiest place on Earth. it may not be everyone's thing but for me it's the place the whole family can go and find something they really enjoy and have a good time, leaving the rest of the world on the outside. I'm going to keep serving the Disney Kool Aid and slurping it down. If they don't want a cup that's more for me!

Oh yes, I get all sorts of comments!
"Didn't you go there last year?"
"I'd have thought you'd have seen it all by now"
"But your children are grown up now"
"Don't you fancy going somewhere different?"
""I don't like theme parks, I like to relax on holiday"
and so on.....

Even my husband doesn't really get it, he's been (1992) but doesn't want to go again, he doesn't like being away from home. Luckily, he humours me and is quite happy for me to have my annual fix, with a short break to Paris in between :)

I've gotten to the point where I don't care, any more, what others think about my trips to Disney. It used to bug me, but as long as my family (husband and 3 kids) still love going there, I will go whenever and however often I can :) 45 days!

Yes they most dif think we are nuts. I have stopped trying to explain it to them and just come to the realization that I am not going down to make them happy, but going down to make myself and my family happy. And if this is what it is then so be it. Some have the slopes, some have the beaches that they go to. And I have Disney. If they don't like it, then they don't have to go. But yes while my family is starting to come around, I think friends and certain members dif think I am totally insane for going down year after year.

I think most of us here get that kind of reaction since we all share the same obsession, and thats why we are on here. My friends and some family think I am nuts.. but my mom and sister are just like me with it. I blame my Mom for starting me so young lol. When my parents got divorced, my Mom took me and my sister every year so I really grew to love and appreciate all things WDW. I have never vacationed anywhere else. I like doing fun things all the time, so being on an island would be boring to me. Yes, its relaxing but I really feel relaxed at WDW..reality just goes right out the door the moment we arrive and I am in my happy place again. Some people get it, some never will.. and thats on them! :D
