Couple more photos. Sorry for low quality, it was getting dark. This seems to be the finished product. The paint job extends all the way from Club Cool and Mouse Gear to Art of Disney and Guest Relations, but so far, nothing has changed on the other sides of the buildings.

In person it does look a lot better than it does in these photos. The finished product makes the color scheme make more sense. It absolutely does make the place look more fresh than before. My biggest complaint is still that its just too noisy and there's too many different color tones.

I still think it would look a lot better without 'future tarp'. Especially since that went out of style in the 90's.

It reminds me of a dart board in a run down bar. Especially when all the neon lights are on at night. I'm sure when Food and Drunk comes around it'll seal the deal.

Exactly my issue with it.

I find this repaint job to be such an annoying concept because for every section with a good color combination, there is another section thats just garish and ugly. I actually like the blue/tan scheme in those last two pics (54245 and 54246).

Just flew back home from Florida last night. Yesterday, I went to Epcot and looked at the new paint job. Although I like the fact that they wanted to add a fresh coat of paint to the structures, I agree with your comment above: there's too many different color tones. Maybe I'll get used to it in time, but for now, I found it actually distracting.

Update! The other sides are also being painted! The portion of the East building adjacent to Universe of Energy is now a dark blue. However, so far it is only one solid color, no alternating colors.
Hmmm...

One colour, or colour range, per ride/subject then, and at the central plaza they all gather together in a kaleidoscope of colours? Where minds and subjects, as represented by colours, meet and communicate? In a way, theoretically, that is a nice continuation of what EPCOT Center itself and it's central plaza were all about. But it feels like cacaphony more than kaleidoscopy.

Thanks for the update. If the east facing is getting a blue coat, I think its a fairly safe bet that the west will get some kind of green scheme.

I get what your saying. And you're right. Conceptually, on paper, it sounds great. Not sure it works well in reality.

And if they wanted to make some symbolic statement about ideas and subjects and people all meeting and communicating in the center of Epcot, then re-do the actual Innoventions exhibit area into something worthwhile rather than let it sit half rotting and empty.

To technical for WDW. They just had some paint left over and used it............

When you see it in person its obvious that the idea is to make the CommuniCore buildings blend in and mesh with everything around them as much as possible. While, like I said before, there are too many alternating tones, dare I say it - I actually prefer these rich, darker tones to the incredibly bland pink that it has been for years.

I think that bland pink was supposed to be a very light tan. When you reach that value range the "pinkness" seems to come out. I've seen the tan-pink mistake happen before in color selection for buildings. At Epcot, I can imagine the effect to be even greater considering that the pavement is a similar color. Before, the warm-tone pavement seemed to balance the cooler whites of the buildings. Perhaps this new color scheme will recapture some of that balance.

I finally saw it today in person, and I agree the rich darker tones, the brown areas and the blue areas look really good. What I didn't like was the horrid green!!!! hideous. And everything would look so much better and cleaner and larger if they would just declutter the place and get rid of the poles and triangles already. Right now its all way too messy and jumbled, too much fighting off each other in colors and design.

Are you talking about the green on the Innoventions West breezeway that's been there for years?

I actually like the green, too. *shrug*

as stated before, painting has finished plaza-side and is now being completed on the other side of the buildings. Here's some pics:

First two = Innoventions West, facing The Seas. The whole side of the building is a solid green and blends in with the foliage very well.
Third pic = Innoventions East, adjacent to Universe of Energy
Fourth pic = door next to Sum of All Thrills
