That's a better color combination.

Well, unfortunately, this would be a huge percentage of WDW guests. Remember that we're living in an age where people can't even navigate to their OWN work location without the assistance of GPS.and if someone has a hard time finding a FW pavilion, that person shouldn't be allowed to mingle with other human beings.
...Back in the Communicore days, the internal corridors were intended to be a significant means of circulation and the buildings were much more permeable as a result. One could look out through the windows to see the pavilions beyond and stay oriented. Now that Innoventions basically blocks all that, the breezeways are really the only means of access to the pavilions beyond and thus they have highlighted their significance by painting them bright colors (and applying bad Postmodern design). Basically, one design solution (Innoventions) creates another problem that has to be solved (breezeway identity)...
They really just need to add a bypass prior to Guest Relations and the Art of Disney store - that would greatly help folks who want to directly go to those attractions. Innoventions and the plaza needs a clean and cohesive redesign, because it's a cluttered mess of partial elements from 1982, 1994, 1999, and 2014 that are all vying for your attention and distracting from one another. The answer is not more window wraps.
The breezeway colors that they added about five years ago is nifty, but the mid-90s illuminated directional signs that they ripped out of the planters in the process needs to come back in a new form. The overhead signage above the breezeway is too small and the arrows are confusing.
Also, the LED wait time signs when you exit the breezeways could display the attraction logo and arrows if they decided to update them. And they should.
I find myself unable to get worked up about the color scheme on the outside of the buildings when the inside of the buildings is just a large expanse of nothing. I mean, why should I care what color they paint an enclosed expanse of nothing? Disney can continue extending the middle finger to their customers by continuing to treat EPCOT nothing more than the park that sells booze, and I'll continue spending my vacation dollars elsewhere.
Actually, that's my favorite part of Innoventions... that's a great, cool, quiet place to sit down right there! What a shame it is to have lost the "openness" of Communicore.
What a shame it is to have lost the "openness" of Communicore. You're right, you could look out on the plaza as you walked around, stay oriented, get a sense of the future in looking out at the other buildings, etc. It was bright and airy. Now, Innoventions is a dark cave. There's really not much there that's worthwhile, either. It's simply a dead zone. Here you have these cool buildings - but no reason to go in them. They can paint them bright neon orange for all I care... Won't change a thing.
This is from 2007:
I bet some of the "noise" would be reduced if they got rid of a lot of the clutter in Innoventions Plaza, such as all of the tacky metal rods, posters, Mouse Gears, stands, The Electric Umbrella and the ugly awning structure thing.View attachment 54243 View attachment 54244 View attachment 54245 View attachment 54246
Couple more photos. Sorry for low quality, it was getting dark. This seems to be the finished product. The paint job extends all the way from Club Cool and Mouse Gear to Art of Disney and Guest Relations, but so far, nothing has changed on the other sides of the buildings.
In person it does look a lot better than it does in these photos. The finished product makes the color scheme make more sense. It absolutely does make the place look more fresh than before. My biggest complaint is still that its just too noisy and there's too many different color tones.
