Repainting of Epcot Central Plaza?

I saw it in person many times over the past 2 weeks.. it does not stand out...and when you see it, it also does not look bad. When I first saw the photos on here I thought it was terrible... but after seeing it in person, it works and blends ok with the surroundings...nothing really standing out or out of place

But, for the investment Disney made, does it look great? It should look great after the effort and money were put into the work. It sounds like it is OK, blends OK, etc. Any change like this should be very positive, not just OK...in my opinion.

The painting distracts from the simple futuristic lines of the actual architecture.
But that seems to be the point of the paint job. With the window wall feature of the buildings long gone, there is nothing particularly unique, inspiring, or futuristic about their design. As one solid color and no window walls, they look too concrete, too 1980's and almost soviet.

Do we know it is not finished?? There has been little information on this project. In truth all of the entrance plaza could use a freshening up...Painting the buildings with random stripes did little to freshen things up...made it look more chaotic IMO. I sure hope there is a plan that will make it all relevant but have seen no signs of it.
We know that the paint job is not finished, at least, because they are still in the process of painting the other sides.

I jokingly commented that either the canopy or the new paint should go because they did not work together. After seeing new pics I think I was actually right. The paint looks pretty good but the canopy is more of an eyesore than ever.

Delete the canopy.

Some more photos for you guys. Sorry about the quality of the photos. Mid afternoon so it was really bright.

In the first two photos are from Future World east and the third is from Future World west. I don't think photos of the paint job on the breezeways on those sides have been posted yet in this thread.

It definitely does. Before, the buildings were the all one tone and it was the all the same hue as the walkways, which make everything look like a sea of concrete. The new colors make them look fresh while also blending in and adding more visual excitement to the area.

Is it me or is the glass being tinted also?

The tarp should go and trees planted.

This.

My issue with the paint is that it clashes with everything else in the area. I hope they remove the tarps and plant trees once the painting is complete.

Project Gemini, the late 90s-era plan to revive Epcot, had a few weaknesses (like turning SSE into a coaster!); but the plan to turn Future World into an Eco-friendly area was brilliant. Funny thing is, EPCOT Center originally had plenty of trees and water features! The changes made to FW in the early 90s stripped the area of its park-like qualities and made it barren.

I second the Gemini plan for Future World (except for a few things as Tirian stated).

The solid paint choices are fine, but the striping is ugly. It really looks terrible. And before it gets defended as "not done" how about someone then explain exactly the entire plan because it looks like, to be frank, crap.

This x1000.

Its certainly more lively than the faded salmon pink, but that alone doesn't make it a nice or visually appealing paint scheme in my mind.

I think it actually works if the glass is being tinted in various shades that compliment the new scheme. But the tarp has to go. Just too much clutter with it there. IMO.

Last time FW/the entrance area was livened up, there was a giant Mickey Mouse wand stuck on the top of SSE. Remember it could always be worse ;)

Seriously though, I don't mind it now that I'm seeing a more complete version. I hated the initial pictures I saw. Not great..... But something
