Amusement parks can reopen in the Red tier beginning April 1.

In the Red tier, capacity will be limited to 15%.
In the Orange tier, capacity will be limited to 25%.
In the Yellow tier, capacity will be limited to 35%

Apparently not enough pressure. It's after 4pm in Sacramento and he didn't say anything about theme parks or pro sports or restaurants.

Orange (Disneyland, Knott's) and LA (Universal, Six Flags) counties both remain in the Purple Tier this week.

Orange County = 7.5 Actual Case Rate Per 100K, 7.6 Adjusted Case Rate Per 100K, Equity Metric 5.0%
LA County = 9.7 Actual Case Rate Per 100K, 7.2 Adjusted Case Rate Per 100K, Equity Metric 5.1%

As per usual, Orange County gets their hard data "adjusted" up to look worse than reality and LA County gets their hard data adjusted down to look better than reality. Just to keep OC in its place and reminded that its very naughty for disobeying our Sacramento betters.

The Equity Metric is harder to fudge, and OC beats LA in that one too.

Unless the Blueprint For A Safer Economy is tossed out and replaced with something far less restrictive, both counties are still several months away from reaching the Yellow Tier and reopening their theme parks at 25% capacity with no wind instruments.

Sike...

Is that how the kids say about it?

I would not be surprised to see Disney wait until they can go to 25%. I find it hard to see they could be financially positive at 15% given the capacity impact of closed indoor attractions. They said over and over, they would only open if the activity would be net positive financially.

Interesting that even in the Yellow tier the parks are restricted to in-state visitors only.

With them already announcing food events I don't think they are going to wait. My opinion they will reopen soon after April 1st when OC is in the Red tier and they can recall CMs and get enough retrained to function.

I would expect you would be able to since you've been technically a "resident" for the last year. But obviously check with Disneyland to be sure once they reopen.

>>The Disneyland Resort and other major California theme parks will be able to re-open on April 1 under a Newsom Administration “refresh” of its COVID re-opening blueprint.

Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure have been shuttered for nearly a year, and their closure has resulted in tens of thousands of layoffs and blown a huge hole in City of Anaheim finances, as the ripple effects of the closure crippled the hundreds of hotels and small business whose livelihood depends on tourism and convention business (the Anaheim Convention Center has also been closed for nearly a year).

Under the Governor’s “refresh,” theme parks can re-open on a limited capacity basis once the county they are located in achieves Red Tier 2 status. Orange County is currently in Purple Tier 1, the most restrictive tier. However, COVID cases are declining rapidly and OC just narrowly missed making Red Tier 2 this week, and is virtually assured of moving into that tier by Tuesday, March 9.<<

Yes I'm fully aware, I've been posting the new guidelines right along with you.

My point is that in March will be the food events, and in April they will start the process of reopening in my opinion.

There’s numerous ways to do this at a handsome profit. They could even add Pixar Pier or Carsland attractions as an “upgrade” to an existing Touch of Disney pass. Just enable maxpass only and block off CL and the Pier from the rest of the event.

Charge a $50-60 premium on top of the “Touch” ticket and extend it through May.

In terms of Disneyland.... I think this could work with a day parting strategy and select lands could easily be opened first. And anyone with a select entry time could still have extra shopping hours on Main Street. 😉

You mentioned the Red Tier, most folks expect Orange County to officially be in the Red Tier next week. That is why I ended the article with that mention.

I edited my post to make it more clear, I never intended to indicate that Disney would start reopening next week. Although I would guess they could start recalling CMs and start the retraining process next week if they wanted to.

Nothing stops Disney from recalling CM's on Monday. I presume they will start with management positions, and maybe leads, to start contacting CM's to see if they are interested in return, have moved on to other jobs, or maybe remaking in a non-working status due to COVID issues. But they have to start somewhere.

Red tier eating inside a restaurant? Ok

Red tier eating inside a restaurant inside of a theme park? Not ok

Just Newsom things.
Since OC could potentially be in Orange tier by mid-April (or slightly sooner) anyways it may not really matter in terms of Disneyland.

But overall the logic is you're not likely driving across the state to go to a restaurant (ie mostly locals) whereas you will for a theme park.
